Delighted with this bowl
Delighted with this bowl. Substantial size 6 1/2" dia. 3" deep appx 900 grams.I first tried Tibetan Bowls about 10 years ago at a market stall. The only bowl that felt and sounded right for me was about £60 which was more than I wanted to spend. (All of those bowls were "used" and well matured).Just recently my desire for a Tibetan Bowl was rekindled, for meditative purposes. I always said that I would sample first before I bought but after making local enquiries I could not locate any.And so I tried eBay and a site came up that had YouTube videos of bowls for sale. I found one I (and my cat! Very importantly) liked but the postage from the USA was as much as the £45 bowl itself making it £90 and so that was a no buy.I looked on Amazon and found three in my price range and I was swayed by this one by the very good and helpful reviews. Although no matter what I buy, I rely heavily on Amazon reviews but realise that it is still a gamble regarding Tibetan Singing Bowls. It arrived within 48 hours of ordering and I was quite surprised how substantial it is, and pleased there were no fancy paintings or anything on it or with it. I vaguely remembered the technique but went on line to jog my memory and within minutes I had the bowl singing.I Am delighted with the sounds and vibrations from it and do find it very therapeutic and a pleasure to use, and will use it very regularly for years to come. Having a butterfly mind I find that using it quickly brings me back into the present moment centering on Presence rather than thoughts, most of which are a useless distraction from the inner life force. The very pleasure of using it means that it is no effort at all, and whether you go along with eastern philosophy practises or not, it naturally and automatically brings you into a calmer peaceful state of mind.If you are looking for one of these bowls I can only add my positive review to those already there.Very best wishes.P.s. My cat doesn't mind the sound and vibes from this bowl but he said "just keep it low."

Beautiful!
Really nice bowl with a beautiful sound. But does not look like the photo at all. The metal is nice and heavy but has some little holes in it. The stick does have a red velvet side.

A singing star !
We bought this singing bowl for a school after the headteacher was on a course we were leading and heard us using ours. We often get asked about them by groups we are leading as they have rarely come across them before and are enchanted by them. Up til now we have managed to get hold of them via a local stall in an indoor market that sells this sort of thing. Sadly, no more, so it was time to turn to the Aladdin's Cave that is Amazon to see what sparkling jewels we could uncover and, being for a primary school, not costing the proverbial upper and lower limbs..When we found this bowl we had to pinch ourselves - it seemed so reasonable ! It may look very plain but the best singing bowls usually are, not the pretty, highly decorated ones that look like ornaments. Unless you are prepared to get on a flight to the Indian subcontinent, where they are, by our standards, very cheap, singing bowls can seem pretty pricey to the 'uninitiated' - don't ever buy one at a festival, for example, where they seem to pick prices out of the air ! They are, in a way, musical instruments and have been handcrafted so the price sort of reflects that. This one is a good size and weight and has a clear, strong, mid-range tone which lasts for a good length of time. It comes with a wooden 'striker'that seems to be made of quite a soft wood which allows it to create a more muted strike if needed or provide enough pressure on the rim when making the bowl 'sing' without rattling. We took it to the school and introduced it in the collective worship time - the children were enthralled by it and immediately focussed on listening to it ring out for as long as possible. The ones close by were whispering to one another "it's still going !!" What a lovely way to learn how to listen, focus and be still..It arrived well packaged and quite quickly. We will definitely be recommending this company to others who ask us in future..in fact, we already have !

The beginning of a beautiful friendship
The bowl arrived by surprise but much quicker than I'd expected so I was delighted - especially since it obviously came all the way from India. Packaging was good and the bowl and striker arrived in great shape.I decided to treat myself to a singing bowl, having viewed and listened to a lot of videos on YouTube. I try to meditate as often as I can and I'd heard that a singing bowl can provide an alternative to the usual mindfulness that I practice. I was also partly swayed by the fact that I have a rather lovely singing bowl app on my iPad which I use quite often and the sounds always focus and relax my mind. The bowl itself is a lovely, substantially-weighted form, quite deep and about 9 inches in diameter rim to rime. The striker feels good in your hand and there's almost an energizing feel to holding the bowl in your hand. After a little practice I was able to make the bowl sing quite easily. So far, I've managed to 'unlock' a very pure high tone which can become quite loud. But I can sense and hear sub-harmonics at lower tones which are still waiting to come out. The actual mechanical motion of rolling the striker around the bowl, coupled with the tones it creates really does place your mind in a meditative state. I sat playing the bowl and 30 minutes went by without my noticing and with my mind completely focused on the combination of sounds and motion.I'm fairly sure that I will add one or two more bowls in the future,A really nice purchase.

Relax and meditate
Not an expert on these things, but I like the sound it makes and thought it good value for money.
