Heavy to move sideways but constructed and delivers a good cut
We bought this in a twin set bundle with the Flymo Contour XT Electric Grass Trimmer and it's held up admirably over the last year. The one thing we would say is that it's a lot easier to move front to back than side to side. We expected the hover facility would make this easier but it seems like it's any excuse to lose whatever hover function it has and moving sideways is always a bit of a fight. The cut is great, the three depth options are a breeze to set and the massive advantage over the flymo it replaced for us is that the handle folds down by itself - whereas on our previous one you had to physically unscrew the handle to put it again and screw it back on again when you next needed it. The basket is slightly on the small side and needs emptying often even on our small garden however that's partly because we don't cut it perhaps as often as we should. The basket size itself is perfect for allowing it to fit in our small shed, so it's a good trade off. Highly recommended if you can catch it on sale, but it's heavy to move sideways so bear this in mind.*Photo's include the strimmer aswell because I bought it in an amazon offer for a matched set which included the mower and strimmer together*

WHAT A FABULOUS MACHINE !
We live in the wilds of the Finnish taiga forests in an old school with lots of grass which isn't beautifully British bowling green smooth but has lumps & bumps, slopes and valleys and is, frankly a pain in the back to mow.I had an early electric Flymo for some years and it worked well but it chucked the mowed grass detritus all over the place and I had to rake it up and cart it around in a wheelbarrow to the compost. This is fabulous ! Firstly it has a grass box so I just time the end of a mowing line to coincide with a cunningly created compost heap and empty it. Secondly it is a DREAM to use once you read the instructions ( "when all else fails, read the instructions" ) and learn how to use the pushing handle gubbins properly ( hint; push it DOWN, don't lift it ! ) and like all Flymos ; it simply flies and you don't have to push the weight of a mower around. I'll be 68 this month so shoving around a heavy mower doesn't appeal but I wish I'd known about this 20 years ago ... It saves so much TIME and @ this time of year when we are inundated by thousands of fallen leaves ; I just mow across the lot and it cuts the grass ... AND ... mulches the leaves and sucks them up all @ the same time. This turns mowing the grass ( wouldn't dream of calling it a lawn (^; ! ) into a pleasurable activity which I can do without half killing myself ... It also has the advantage of cutting so much on one grass box that I have time to enjoy a cold beer between boxes without feeling guilty (^;! Strongly recommended !

Good product
I paid full price for this, and this is not a sponsored review. I've had a Robomow for years and it failed with a motherboard failure. A new motherboard cost a lot more than one of these mowers, and as I have more spare time these days I decided to buy one because (a) what could I lose and (b) the grass was growing fast. It is doing the job well. In the last week I have removed about 100 litres of grass from the lawn. I didn't realise it was producing that much grass, I am glad I got the bigger model.Several things to note.First, unlike the old Flymos the function of the blower is mainly to support it rather than hover - the result is almost no weight to push. As the grass box fills the weight increases and if the grass is wet, the vents start to get blocked. So, if it starts to get harder to push - empty the grass box. You will use less electricity and expend less effort that way.Second, although it isn't difficult to lift when folded, the wheels are in the wrong place for pushing. So don't forget to get as close as possible to your storage shed before unplugging.Third, check the foam filter and the blower after use and remove stray grass, this will prevent overheating in the longer term.I don't expect it to last as long as the Robomow but it's a good product for the money and should be easy to service.

Adequate but could be better
I have bought this to replace a Flymo 340 which no longer flies. Flymo Glidemaster 340 34cm 240 volt Mains Electric Hover Collect Mower (Old Version)Out of the box although slightly heavier it does look more flimsy. There is a black lead from the mower to the switch in the handle which is supposed to clip into a plastic clip on the handle. Unfortunately the lead is not quite long enough.Likewise the orange lead with the mains plug should wrap round two supports on the handle, a good idea but whichever way you wind it the end does not line up with the clip so there is always a length of cable dangling.Unlike previous mowers the lead does not plug in so if damaged it is a case of dismantling the box that has the hand levers on it to replace the cable. Of course Flymo say you should take it to an agent to get it repaired.Next pick it up, unless you have enormous arms you can’t pick it up as shown on the box and there were no convenient handles. We have front and back lawns so need to carry it between them, this is a major inconvenience.Anyway in use.It pushes easily and cuts well, even up to the edge near a wall. The handle is however strange in that it only has too fixed positions full up, too high and full down, too low, anything between this is not fixed and just feels awkward to use.The height adjustment is easy and controlled by a single lever, although our lawn is level we found the lowest setting was too low and as the grass box filled up and the weight increased it hovered less. The grass box was easy to empty although I would have liked the lid covering it to have stayed up.Cleaning is a different matter, although there were less nooks and crannies to collect grass than the previous mower the instructions say to remove the fan for cleaning, as this involves a 13mm spanner I doubt many people will do this.I like hover mowers it is just I would like someone else to make one as Flymo never seem to get the design quite right.
