Nice Camera....terrible tech support - they have no idea what they are doing
CONNECTION AND TECH SUPPORT:I finally got this camera installed and to do so I had to rework my network. If you are not into this sort of stuff on the ground floor and have issues getting it connected....good luck. Do not rely on Uniden Tech Support. They do not know anything beyond what is in the manual. They also do not understand how to call you back.WHAT MY ISSUE WAS:My router(Linksys N Router/set to mix mode and 2.4Ghz) was keeping it from completing registration on Uniden Servers in order for it to work. I determined this through my own testing. I removed the router and now am currently using my ComCast gateway without my router in place. Luckily, my ComCast gateway provides everything my router did plus it has a way better Wifi connection. I think that my router was blocking the protocol the camera was trying to use to connect to the server to complete registration. I say that because of what I saw in WireShark along with doing some portscans along the way. Anyway, if you have connection issues you may want to try the Wifi connection in your Gateway if you have Comcast and bypass your router completely. I will say that when I had my original network setup I could connect the camera to my wifi but that was internally. My issue was when the camera needed to go through my router to the outside world. I did try DMZ, port forwarding the ports I thought needed access to the camera but none of that worked.FINALLY CONNECTED:Once you have the camera setup and downloaded with the latest firmware, it is a really nice piece to have if you are into the smart home/security sort of thing. It supports RTSP(Real Time Streaming Protocol) so that you can connect to the camera and see what it sees anytime. You can do this without the app. I use a security camera app on my phone that I use with my existing cameras. The motion detection is great. I have had no issues there. This things can see really wide and very clear. Come to find out that it is a HikiVision rebranded wireless doorbell. You can log directly into this camera using the IP address it gets assigned once it is registered on the server. You can set ports and what not in the web app. You can also download the SADP software from HikiVision to see the camera as you go through the connection process and watch it go from inactive to active. The SADP software can be downloaded from HikiVision. This software allows you to see connection parameters that the camera has as well as what is assigned to it during the connection process. This is where you can see the IP address assigned to the camera that you can then access from the web interface as I mentioned above. Anyway, this is a nice camera but it is because of who made it(HikiVision) and nothing to with Uniden. Did I mention their tech support is useless and incompetent?

A lesson in frustration
[updated review after many days of issues and re-setup]Returning this, it's way too finicky and problematic with way too many issues rendering it useless.* Doorbell functionality is poor as you cannot really hear what the person at the door is saying, the voice is too low and muddled.* Randomly fails to playback recorded events and live views due to various errors such as: > "Network is unstable. Connecting again..." > "No enough memory. The live view is paused." > "No records found" even though there's an alarm/event/message posted with an appropriate thumbnail. > "Offline" where the device is simply disconnected for whatever reason.Usually when the device goes totally offline you have to delete it from your account and set it all up from scratch which is a huge PITA.All the while the camera is in the 'offline' and unusable state the thing is still clearly connected as it's sending me motion detection alarm notifications while I'm out there uninstalling it. Pure insanity!I have an Edwards Signaling 598 120V 8/16/24V 30W Transformer pushing 16V 30W to the doorbell so there's plenty of reliable power. The 2.4 wifi signal is strong at the doorbell. The issues have to be related to the doorbell itself.I've spent HOURS trying to get this thing to simply work as it should. It works for a while, then has various issues. As a doorbell it sucks as you can't really hear the person at the door, though they can hear you fine. So really you're left with a flakey security camera product at which point if that's all you want/need/get there's a whole lot more options out there for plain motion detecting camera doodads.********[original review after a day or two of setup and use]Purchased this as it's a fraction of the price of Ring, etc. and without the obnoxious monthly fees. The physical install is very straight forward. However, the software setup is extremely challenging and frustrating, even for the tech savvy. Here's some of my notes.* I had a trailing space in my username, which the app accepted. However, when I submitted the 4 digit verification code emailed to me, it would error "Failed to connect to the server". Repeatedly. Multiple tries. When I realized there was a trailing space in my email address, I removed that, entered the verification code again, it worked on the first try. Most UI developers would automatically trim leading/trailing spaces automatically as a standard practice.* I could not get it to connect to my wifi by entering the wifi auth details into the app. However, it connected instantly when I used the app to generate a wifi QR code and let the doorbell camera scan that. I swear I entered my wifi password correctly.* The app itself is usable, but challenging. For example, it supports Alarm Notification > Select Motion Detection Area but it's not clear if the red area or the clear area is the area that will/won't trigger an alarm (the red area is the area that will trigger the alarm). Additionally there's a small floppy disk icon at the top right you need to click to save the setting. None of this is intuitive or clear. Most iOS apps don't require a "save" button/icon to be pressed, settings are always saved immediately, like you see on the Alarm Notification > Motion Detection Sensitivity screen.* The sound at the doorbell is adequate. However, the sound you hear from the doorbell in the app on your phone is barely audible even when the microphone/speaker settings at max in the app, and your iPhone's volume at max. Any quieter and you literally wouldn't be able to hear it at all.* The Alarm recording definitely has issues even on firmware V1.4.62 build 180515. I had someone pick up a box from my porch at my request, the recording showed the vehicle pull up, the person pop their trunk, then a huge chunk was missing (them physically walking onto the porch to grab the box), then the video went right to the vehicle pulling away. HUGE FAIL. And that was with the default Detection Area and Sensitivity set (which captures every single car on the road or person walking by). I didn't get a face on the video, nothing. Other videos seem to include the entirety. Seems inconsistent. After setting a smaller Detection Area to exclude the street which was trigger off every vehicle that drove by it's now missed at least one person that's walked onto my porch, opened the front door, and walked into the house. All of this alarm based wonkiness will be a huge issue if I can't get this part to work 100%.* My doorbell only goes "Ding" once instead of "Ding Dong" like it used to.* Be aware that this (and probably all others) doorbell is really large compared to a normal doorbell. And the Uniden has a weatherproof gasket that needs to be sandwiched between the doorbell housing and wherever you're mounting it to keep rain driven water from getting behind the unit and into the doorbell wiring. Chances are you'll have to route your door moulding, or craft some sort of wood/metal back to sandwich between the gasket and your door moulding. Or something crafty like that. Or some electrical tape or something to help protect the wires.* The doorbell back is nearly 100% flat except a small area where the wires connect. Normal doorbells have a large hollow area to stuff the extra slack doorbell wire underneath. A minor annoyance as I had a lot of extra wire and difficulty pushing it back into the hole in the door moulding for whatever reason (maybe builder stapled it or something).* You're putting a lot of faith into the Hikvision company in China (the company that makes this Uniden doorbell, and others that look similar) to protect your data, such as the id/passwords you're going to use to configure the device, including your wifi credentials, not to mention your data streams. Though you have to put that same faith into whatever cloud-connected doorbell camera you choose to purchase. This is a good reason to separate your IoT devices onto their own separate network in your home.* The doorbell button, while surrounded by an obvious light, apparently isn't intuitive as the physical doorbell button as I've seen more than one person attempt to press the fisheye camera lense first, before pressing the doorbell button correctly. I've seen other devices have a backlit "bell" or "speaker" icon on their buttons.* The nightvision mode is useless as it generates a ton of false positives when lights outside of your mask/target area glare off the fisheye lense which triggers alarm events. However, if you have external lights such as a porch light and leave those on the camera works great and as you'd expect. My first doorbell camera. Jury is still out on whether this is a keeper or not.A lot of users purchase this as this model also supports ONVIF so they can use 3rd party security camera recording apps/devices to tap into the data stream from the camera. It's certainly an excellent reason to choose this device as not many doorbell cameras support that feature.

Once you get it going, it's good
I like to think I'm technically inclined, but this doorbell had me stumped for months. I had to use the 'create barcode option' in the Uniden App to show the doorbell so it could get my wifi credentials. Figuring this out was very frustrating. So, press the button on the left side of the camera until the camera says "Configure wifi" and show the camera the code that was generated on your phone. For people buying the camera for its RTSP function, here is the address you need to connect to your camera via RTSP:r t s p://admin:{PASSWORD}@{YOUR.CAMEREA.IP.ADDR}:554/Streaming/Channels/101Good luck.

One of the *only* reasonably priced ONVIF doorbells out there... DEAD AFTER 2 DAYS
The Good:- readily accessible configuration page, easy to integrate with existing NVR- plenty of user-accessible options via the configuration page- small form factor and rather attractive (minus the Uniden branding...)- good installation instructions, box comes with everything you needThe BAD:- no battery backup - power goes out, no video feed- connecting to WiFi is *next to impossible* - this unit has got to have the cheapest possible internals on the planet - any interference whatsoever will disrupt it, took me over 8 hours of maneuvering routers/extenders and fiddling with alternative mobile apps to get a wireless connection (Hint - use the Hik app and QR code)- all the apps (Hikvision, Uniden, EzViz) all use the same back end, yet all have varying levels of functionality - eg have to use Hikvision app to connect, but EzViz is the only app with Alexa/IFTTT integration- Uniden customer support was useless for helping with setup- none of the 3 apps are pushing the latest firmware from Hikvision - has to be done manually - and the latest (May 2018) includes many functionality tweaks that are critical (won't tell the doorbell ringer you aren't answering...)If you're tech savvy and patient, this is well worth the money. On my 3rd video doorbell, this is the only one that has the feature set I was looking for (1. compatible with existing wiring/transformer/mechanical chime 2. ONVIF support 3. won't break the bank)

reasonable for money
instructions are poor and very basic. Had to boot and reboot system several times before doorbell/camera would work. Motion sensitivity adjustments are hyper sensitive even at the lowest setting. The motion detection area is also lacking as well. no matter what areas are checked off, the camera is going to be triggered by road traffic. It took a lot of trial and error to to get this working to an acceptable level, so if you buy this unit, be patient.

Decent, works with Blueiris/ONVIF
So far so good, have had it installed for a little over a week only. Had slight buzzing from mechanical door chime but resistor cleared that up no problem. Existing transformer worked fine but is fairly new. 2.4Ghz wifi setup wasn't an issue for me but wifi AP isn't far from installed location. App is the weakest link, sometimes the doorbell will ring the app, sometimes it doesn't. Indoor mechanical chime always works so far.. No adjustment for picture or BLC so if facing the sun, the rest will be dark and washed out until the sun rises out of view of the lens. A bit or infrared flare on the lens at light, very pronounced with any dust or moisture on the lens.If it doesn't die anytime soon, will be buying another for the side door.
