Barnett Banshee Junior Archery Compound Bow Arrow

Having learnt archery as a youth this purchase allows me to pass on the skills.Awesome beginner bow for pre-teen/teen kids. THIS IS NOT A TOY!Purchased for a 14 yr old boy.Adult supervision/instruction recommended.Two good quality arrows are supplied with the bow; the bow itself is durable.The packaging acts a case for the bow/arrows also.Only thing missing is an arm guard (essential item given the draw weight of this bow).Do look carefully at the instructions/pictures if this is your first bow.Adequate accuracy/range for the price.Highly recommend carbon fibre arrows.

Decided to purchase this on a whim, as the price was right and it seemed perfect for short range target practice in the garden without endangering the neighbourhood too much! I've always been interested in archery, but aside from a few sessions at a range many years ago, never really acted on it. Although the packaging would indicate it's intended for young children, it is perfectly usable as a beginner bow for shorter adults. The draw length of 26" is probably about right for me (I'm around 5'6"). The draw weight is rated at 25 lbs, however being a compound bow, it lightens off considerably once you draw past a certain point, which makes for easy aiming. I would definitely question whether young children would struggle with this draw weight though.Pro's- Seems nicely made for the money.- Well established manufacturer- Just the right power for leisure useCon's- I would appreciate a more comprehensive user manual, showing what adjustment is possible, and tips for caring for the bow etc. I can't even find anything on Barnett's web site.- The handle IS ambidextrous, but to use this bow left handed you really need to restring it so the pulleys are on the other way. This requires a bow press and CANNOT be done safely without one. Only an experienced archer or archery shop is likely to have one.- Some sort of arrow rest would be nice. On my first few attempts I struggled with the arrow falling off the arrow shelf. I think accessories are available to help with this.Purely on a fun per pound basis this has to be 5* though. If you are just starting don't forget to buy a finger tab as one is not supplied with this, and an arm guard may be useful. It's rather painful if the string hits your arm.

These bows are FANTASTIC! I bought this one for Christmas for my 17 year old Daughter, along with all the necessary archery equipment. She can just about draw it back and hold it steady, but gets tiring after half an hour or so for her.....I guess she'll be able to do longer as her strength builds. Really great fun!

This is not a toy.Purchased for my (at the time) young lad and as I tested it (all dads have to do this with a new toy before handing it to their kids haha) I manged to fire an arow all the way down our long garden and straight through the shed door and through a large tin of paint making a bit of a mess. Great quality itme but not a toy at all.

My Daughter loves this bow (13yo) just right pull and weight !

Excellent present for kids. For 8 years I should add,kids should be well built. It is more suitable for 10 years and onwards.
