Great Idea - Not the best implementation
I have to disagree with several of the reviews here, and on several points too. I have used many amp simulators from Korg, Boss, Zoom, etc., and found the Twin version headphones from VOX to be rather weak on sound. They are OK but certainly don't excel on the sound front. If you ramp up the gain they sound pretty awful; the clean sounds are tolerable. The effects just don't work very well and all sound pretty much the same, with only chorus appearing just slightly different to the delay or reverb. The idea of these phones is great, so I was hoping I could ditch the cables, my Korg Pandora PX4D and headphones, but the clean sounds and effects from the Korg are so much superior to those of the VOX. The phones themselves are OK, but not the strongest in construction and the thin cable at the 3.5mm jack end looks very flimsy and prone to being easily damaged. These headphones do not look very robust. Being from audio-technica they work well, but the sound can't match my Bose or Creative headphones for listening to music. The ear cans are large and boxy, with one side housing the 2 AAA batteries whilst the other contains the electrics and controls. The twist-off cover to get to the batteries is flimsy and comes loose far too easily and to be honest is a bad design. Most annoying are the dial controls for Volume, Tone, Gain and Effect. These are recessed too deeply and very fiddly to operate with the headphones on, and the writing next to each difficult to read. I found I had to keep taking the phones off to get the settings right. The effects dial is the worst, and really annoying. It beeps as you rotate indicating the next effect, but in practice it's very difficult to get a level for each effect between the beeps, and impossible to do whilst the phones are on.On the whole these headphones seem cheaply constructed. They are a really great idea but just poorly designed and implemented and as such way over-priced. If they were Β£40-50 then I could perhaps recommend them, but with only one sound for each, such a poor design and flimsy construction, then at the current price I would say avoid them and buy a little effex processor and separate headphones. These just don't look built to last.

Great idea from Vox - again!
If you already have the Vox AmPlug, then this may be an expense too far. But I think there is room in the discerning guitarist's bedroom/studio for both! If you have young kids (or anyone else) in the house who prefers to sleep undisturbed, then you'll love these excellent amplifier-cum-headphones. They are comfortable, plug straight into your axe (that's the same as an 'ax' if you are reading this in the US!), have various effects settings (delay, chorus, gain etc) and sound really great. They can also be used as regular headphones of course, with the amp setting switched off and so no drain on the batteries. Then why only 4 stars?, I can hear you say. Well, the 'pedal' type effects are a little fiddly to use, and the lead is a bit too short for my liking. But a really good idea from Vox, yet again - well done those clever people!

Great price and product
I've seen a couple of critical reviews and I don't really understand them. These phones are great. They do exactly what they claim. If you play guitar and want to practice quietly (for the benefit of others) but also listen to your session, Vox has the answer with these brilliant amp headphones. Out of the box, they look good. Unscrew the jack plug fitment to reveal a standard mp3 mini jack which means they can double up as outstanding quality headphones. My only slight criticism is that the cable seems a little lightweight, but I'm discounting that as my standard headphones have Kevlar cable, so it's not fair comparison. I've no issue with the cabling and it looks strong enough for regular use. Cable length is just right. Not too much to tangle. The left earphone is the business end for volume control, tone and effects. I found it easy to operate, but you do have to make the adjustment manually and anyone with large fingers may find it more fiddly. The sound is awesome. Crisp, clear and sharp. If you're plugged in to the guitar, it's like being in the central space with the sound going on around. Difficult to explain, but it's very effective. Really can't fault these for practice purpose and they double up quickly as standard cans, so twice the value for money. Love them.

Good but build could be better
I enjoy playing with these headphones but there is issues with them. The cable is far too flimsy and very easily broken at the plug if care isnβt taken. I had a pair of secondhand vox headphones, which required the plug changing as the cable was broken internally. I did fix them temporarily with a new cable but as the inner wires are as thin, as a hair on your head, very difficult too solder and too strengthen the joint. Eventually the wires failed again, so I bought a new set of headphones, but I will be very careful in how I treat them, so be warned no heavy handed use or they break. Also I agree with other posts, the dials are very awkward to move if wearing these. A wee bit better design and they would be great.

Very handy, but far from perfect
Pros:*Makes practice SUPER easy to set up*I don't pee off the neirbours or the Mrs*Sound quality as a regular pair of headphones is surprisingly goodCons:*Build quality is sub-par. Wire and connections feel like they will break. Not good enough for this price.*I don't like the tone. Playing an American fender passive jazz bass. The notes are not destructive enough, semitones are almost indistinguishable. Perhaps this is a taste thing, but I don't think it amplifies the tone of the bass guitar well.I would give this device a lower score... But... It's SUPER handy... I probably would buy another if it broke, but if there was any serious competitor I would look elsewhere.
