Better than words.
As a PhD student into quantitative research, I was looking for a product that can be powerful to handle large spreadsheets, MatLab and other heavy duty software packages. Already owning a i7 skylake laptop with a ULV processor, I wanted more power, while retaining portability because I travel a lot. I was kind of desperate as I was searching the market, because the NUC solutions from intel that I had in mind were not more powerful than my laptop, and mac mini apart from being inadequate for the task, hadn't been updated for 2 years. Started to get a bit desperate and then I stumbled on this product right here. Did my research and reluctantly ordered. What a revelation that has been! Everything runs fast and smooth (large excel files and what I already mentioned). For those that like their share of games, I even managed to play 1080p overwatch with medium settings on a 60fps rate.I run the Skull Canyon with Crucial Ballistix SODIMM 2400mhz and ADATA ssd SP550. Installed windows 10 from a usb flashdisk and I was good to go in a breeze. I have it connected to 2 monitors through HDMI and miniDP, while it also operates with my Line6 Toneport UX2 for sound.General things to notice:1: It can work natively with ddr4 clocked higher and not just 2133mhz. My ballistix sodimms run natively in 2400mhz and are not scaled down.2: Update the bios, solves "early age" problems (wake after sleep, memory support etc.)I highly recommend it. The expandability, energy consumption levels and cutting edge tech seals the deal.

Fantastic bit of kit, would highly recommend.
This is pretty pricey for a PC especially it's barebones.I spent another £500 on this by getting a 1TB M.2 drive and 16GB RAM.It is lightning fast. I use 2x 4K monitors on this system - one with the display port and one with the HDMI port. The graphics capabilities are poor so forget it if you want a gaming PC - unless you want to invest in the optional graphics enclosure. This unit is mounted to the back of one of my monitors with the supplied VESA kit and you cannot see it at all when looking at the screen face on. However, if you want to do this, ensure your VESA mount holes on your monitor are not in use by your stand/mount otherwise you can't do this - there is no kind of pass-thru mechanism.Overall, fantastic bit of kit, would highly recommend.

Intel have a fundamental problem with these things and other hardware.
After 13 days it started freezing and only power button would reboot it.Looked on intel forum and see that every 3 post is same issue. After hours of reading through all post...No solution offered.Intel can't make the drivers for this issue and after 8 months the problem is still present.Having a list of recommended hardware (apart from being useless for this problem as seen in the posts) is .not my problem. Its not sold with a stipulation to be only used with preferred memory/ssd.I refuse to get into a 4 month job of trying to fix this stuff for Intel.I'm returning mine and I'll wait for for 12 months before trying again with this mini pc lark.

NUC6i7KYK is effortless power
Arrived speedily. I fitted it with 2 x Samsung 950 Pro 512Gb and Kingston HyperX 32Gb RAM. The hardware was fitted in seconds. I downloaded W10 PRO direct to USB from the Microsoft download site.I also copied the Intel network drivers to the same USB stick. Installation was a no BIOS affair. However, I did need the already downloaded network drivers to to get the Windows update process started. The NUC6i7KYK links to my LG 4k TV by HDMI cable and effortlessly outputs the full 4k while also extending to the ASUS monitor in 2k using DP cable.

... DevOps engineer I use this product for some serious fun. ESXI 6
As an aspiring data scientist and a DevOps engineer I use this product for some serious fun.ESXI 6.x compatibility is not full (audio and WiFi will not work) but depends on your plan. With proper M2 SSD and 32GB of RAM this machine can run your home lab without any problem.
