Good gymbal
This is a great 3 axis gymbal for use with the GoPro Hero 5/6. It's not without issues though, the camera attachment could be better designed, a plastic bar with two screws with heads that are way too small to grip properly, just naff. Further, you have no access to the power button on one orientation of the camera when mounted and to the power socket on the other orientation. Notwithstanding the above, the images that are produced are fantastic, stable and free from wobbles, very smooth. The GoPro can be powered from the onboard battery to extend life but depending on how the camera was mounted you have but one orientation that works as mentioned above.

Currently Touring Croatia
It worked straight out of the box and also charges the GoPro if needed. I connect to it using Bluetooth and the Gopro on WiFi, this lets me control everything from one device. It’s so far had a week of sun, sea, sand and has worked flawlessly. Footage is smooth and yes you get some motor noise but it’s not too much.I’m very impressed with the build quality and battery life, these things are very well made.

Great Product & Service
After looking around for a while and considering the best option for me I gave this one a chance and I’m happy I did.Works as specified and the delivery was 1 day faster than stated. Delivery to Channel Islands in 4 days.I’ve done some testing and I get some motor noise but nothing too noticeable, not that matters anyway as I will have music over it.It has also arrived with all the parts as stated on description.

Best Gopro hero gimbal.
Amazing product. I considered buying kKarma pro and Removu. But features that stood out fot me was:>Easy selfie mode>Time lapse function>Removabel battery>tripodThe only drawback is how the action mounts onto it, its a bit awkward but still worth the money. Would recomend.

Quite possibly the best GoPro Gimbal available
The media could not be loaded. Feiyutech G5 V2 Gimbal ReviewSo here it is, possibly the first review of the Feiyutech G5 V2 Gimbal, or at least I cant find one anywhere else on the internet.I’ll start by saying that I am a professional news cameraman and documentary film maker. I bought this gimbal with with my own money. It isn’t a free sample so I’m not under any obligation to pull my punches. I am a big fan of gimbal stabilisers and already own a couple so I have something to compare the G5 v2 to.I've done a series of tests over a few days now, and my initial thoughts are very positive. Most importantly, stability was excellent. I did a few tests around the house and garden which were great. Getting good gimbal footage is not just a matter of, off you go and everything will be beautiful and smooth. Trying to hold as steady as possible and making smooth precise movements will help things to look even better. When walking try and roll from heel to toe keeping knees bent slightly to try and minimise Z axis movement (what steady cam operators call 'The Gimp Walk’).The other really good thing over other gimbals that take the Hero 5 is is that the motor noise is very low. You have to put the GoPro on wind only audio processing which just uses the top mic. There is still some gimbal noise present, but with automatic noise removal in FCPX, the audio becomes highly usable, much more so than other GoPro gimbals. This issue of gimbal noise is more a problem of the GoPro Hero 5 and its automatic gain system. The gimbal motors are actually whisper quiet, and you can only hear the faintest noise from them when the gimbal is right next to you ear.The gimbal case is nice and fits the gimbal with the Hero 5 attached, if a little snugly. The mode button works well as does the joystick. The temporary selfie button which rotates the pan axis through 180 degrees for as long as the button is pushed is a really nice touch. Another great addition is that of a charging port on the head adjacent to the camera and the inclusion of short charging cables for the Hero 4 and 5, which enable the camera to be charged by the battery in the gimbal and hence massively increase the shooting time. This is a great addition. The only downside is that you have to have a flap open on the gimbal and the door on the Hero 5 open to be able to charge, it so it is no longer waterproof, but in more forgiving environments this means you could shoot for hours without having to change the battery. When the gimbal boots up, by default it goes into pan mode (tilt is locked and the gimbal smooths out panning motion). Single push on the mode button puts it into lock mode which basically keeps it pointing in the same direction all the time. Double push on the mode button puts it into follow mode where it follows your movements in any direction. The joystick enables you to move the head so you can easily adjust the tilt angle in any mode mode plus the pan in lock mode. One last mode that I discovered by looking through the app and seeing a thing called auto rotation rate is, not surprisingly, called Auto Rotation. This is a feature inherited from the Fieyutech WG2 wearable gimbal. Push the mode button 4 times and you will hear a beep. Manually move the gimbal to your desired start position. It will stay there while you push the mode button and hear a single beep. Manually move the gimbal to your desired end position and push the button again. You will hear another beep and the camera will rotate from start to finish at a rate set from within the app, from 30 seconds to 8 hours. This is fantastic for moving time-lapse shots and is another great feature, and one where the ability to power the camera from the gimbal scores again. Now on to the trigger button. Even though the packaging doesn't mention anything about Version 2, and there is nothing on the Fieyutech website about a V2, it does have the trigger button on the front as advertised. It would appear that Fieyutech haven't printed a new instruction sheet either for the V2 because no mention is made of it. After some experimentation, my opinion is that the main function of this is to temporarily put the gimbal into lock mode (so it always points in the same direction) when you are in either pan mode or follow mode. This still needs a bit of work. It works perfectly in pan mode, on releasing the button the gimbal returns to centre and whatever tilt you had already set. When you are in follow mode it returns the gimbal to its original 0 pan/0 tilt position that it goes to when you first push the mode button twice. This is fine if you have the gimbal held vertically, but if you had raised the tilt so you could use follow mode with the gimbal held horizontally (flashlight position) it results in a nice shot of the floor. All in all, this is a pretty minor issue and more something to be aware of rather than a major stumbling block. A double tap on the trigger returns the G5 to pan mode from either lock mode or follow mode.In my opinion, a better use of the trigger double tap would be to re-centre the gimbal what ever attitude it is in, but again this is not a big deal and something that may be sorted in a future firmware update. One other minor niggle is that the gimbal creeps to the left when it is in lock mode. This seems to be a common feature in Feiyutech gimbals. Again this isn't a massive issue and if you were wanting to keep the camera facing downhill if you were skiing, for example, it would work fine, but it is worth bearing in mind if you want a still shot of something then it is better to stay in pan mode. Now the biggie, and the one that supposedly sets the G5 apart from the others.... How waterproof is it? It says on the instructions "splash proof", so I suppose my decision to test it in the shower for 2 minutes was maybe a bit ambitious. I would reiterate here that I have actually bought this G5. It is not sample for evaluation that I can abuse with impunity, so I was delighted when it kept working whilst in the shower, but dismayed when it stopped shortly after.I am a professional cameraman and photographer and had bought the G5 to help with making a documentary about caving in the Yorkshire Dales. The bad news is that it started misbehaving in ways too numerous to mention, but the good news is that after a few hours of drying out, touch wood, it seems to be working perfectly again. I think the main point of water ingress was around the buttons on the handle, which are not as water resistant as they might be. I would say that for light rain, skiing, the beach, then the G5 will stand up fine. For the harsher environment beneath the Pennines, I will be looking to put a balloon over the handle and a little silicone grease around the motors. The fact that it is more durable will definitely help me get shots that would otherwise be impossible in such a difficult situation and I am looking forward to getting underground with it.So in conclusion. The G5 V2 is great. It feels like it is an extremely well-made piece of equipment that will make it possible to get great footage in any location. The battery life, trigger button, charging port and auto rotate feature set it above its competitors even if you didn't require it to be splash-proof. The folding tripod base in this package is a great addition that can be used as an extension handle as well as a tripod, and it makes the whole package very attractive and excellent value. I would strongly recommend.OK so here is the update after a first caving trip with the G5/Hero 5 combo, and though the gimbal doesn't look as shiny as did before, it performed excellently in extremely harsh conditions. First I would say that I have adjusted the follow settings using the app to alter the performance to how I prefer. I have decreased the lag and increased the speed to give a more responsive result. This is personal and the default settings are fine for anyone who doesn't want to get into this. The filming was over 2 days in the Gaping Gill system in Yorkshire. Day 1 involved surface shots and going down on the chair lift to do shots in the main chamber. Gaping Gill main chamber is large enough to fit St Paul's Cathedral in whole with room to spare. The only way to capture it was as a time-lapse for which I use the G5 with the tripod base which came as part of this package. The results are great to the extent that they will be used in the final production. Day 2 involved going in via Stream Passage and coming out by Flood entrance. This is not a casual amble through cave. The whole trip was 6 hours of fairly hard labour involving 360 feet of descent and ascent on rope plus much much crawling and squeezing in muddy and wet conditions (see video clips), Despite getting very wet and muddy the gimbal continued to function well throughout. There were sections of crawling where the gimbal/camera assembly was just placed in a bag which had to drag along the muddy floor which I though may have been the death of the G5, but it kept on going. The footage obtained surpassed my expectations and is stable enough for the TV usage intended. The gimbal was used to power the camera for the walk up, and the battery survived until we got back to the cars over 8 hours later....admittedly it was on its last legs by then, but I could not have expected it to last any longer. In short this gimbal enabled me to get footage that really could not have been obtained in any other way, without a huge team of people to carry equipment and hours of time to set it up, and if it can take that sort of punishment then I'm pretty sure it could take anything short of being fully submerged.

Perfect gimbal for the GoPro!
If you want a TLDR version: Excellent stabilization and build quality. Size is just right and I can easily recommend this.I recently purchased a GoPro Hero 5 Black, and since the 4k footage is not stabilized, I really needed something that would work well in a small and simple package. One of the reasons I went with this is because I actually also own the Feiyu SPG C (phone mount), and tried it with a GoPro adapter. The SPG C (version works well, but it is quite a bit larger than I wanted to carry and is not as snug of a hold on the mount. After reading about this and seeing reviews on Youtube, I thought this G5 would suit me best. I did consider the others as well, but this one really suits my needs the best.Mount/build/battery: The Feiyutech G5 holds the GoPro in very safe and secure and is very easy to mount and dismount when finished. The GP5B is held with a bracket and two screws which can be removed without tools, and I used the additional counter balance since the GP5B is heavier than the older models. As far as usability goes, I have used it several times at the park on one charge and the indicator blinks are reporting full still. (each time recording about 30-45 minutes of footage). The build quality feels very high-end and the metal and rubberized finish is excellent.Usage: While the GP power button does get covered up if you mount the GP in normally, there are two ways around this. You can turn the GP on first and then mount it, or you can actually mount the GP upside down (the built in gyro will figure out what side is up and adjust the screen). I've used it both ways it it worked well for me. I did use this setup out in 103F heat and my hands were sweaty, but the rubberized grip made it easy to hold. The ports for charging have covers and I think I'd feel safe walking in the rain with it, but I haven't had a chance to try that yet.Stabilization: This is where this gimbal shines. It really is excellent. Like any gimbal it gets you 98% there, but the 2% you have to use a little bit of walking technique to make it perfect. When I use the G5, I actually hold it upside down at the dog park and briskly walk alongside my dogs and it works perfectly. I get very smooth video and really amazed at what this gimbal can do. The Feiyu app can be used to make adjustments to the power/speed of the panning movements but I found that the default was on par for my needs at the park (but to each their own).Really happy I went with this gimbal as the size is perfect for my travels and the neoprene case is also really handy to store the gimbal in a small space. I'll update this review soon with some raw footage from the setup soon, but definitely recommend this gimbal!

The Only 3-Axis Gimbal that will Perform a Horiztontal 180 Degree Roll!
I purchased this Feiyu G5V2 for use with a GoPro Hero 7 after trying all other 3 Axis gimbals and discovering these others WILL NOT perform a 180-degree horizontal roll. Here is what I mean by 180-degree horizontal roll......... to make this motion, hold your arm out straight to your side, at 90 degrees, with the stabilizer handle in line with your arm and the camera facing forward, then pivot your arm at your shoulder to rotate the camera, always with the arm straight out to the side, from foot to head, +/- 90 degrees, with the camera always pointing forward.Happily, the older and soon to be discontinued Feiyu G5V2 will do this and do it very well. I am pleased with the results. The application for its use I describe here is when using the G5V2 while driving off-road. To use it on the passenger side though you need to reverse the camera or turn it upside down. While the G5V2 is older, preexisting the newer Hero cameras, it does not state in its specs it will work with the Hero 7 but in fact the Hero 7 camera installs perfectly and with the supplied extra weight, balances reasonably well. How about motor noise being picked up by the camera? The G5V2 makes very little motor noise when it's motors operate. During my tests, my breathing was louder than the G5V2 motor noise picked up by the cameras microphone. So yes I'm shocked that all current 3-axis gimbals consumer gimbals in the less than $150 range will not perform the 180-degree horizontal stabilization. This capability is fundamental for my use of a stabilizer. As I mentioned I've tried them all and these include....drum roll....the Feiyu G6 which replaces the G5. The G6 is a different mechanical design and makes it impossible for the G6 to perform the 180-degree horizontal roll. All other 3 axis gimbals available on Amazon, and I mean all of them, are also unable to perform the 180-degree horizontal roll. The other gimbals failing to stabilize this motion are the Hohem Gimbal Stabilizer iSteady Pro 2 and the Zhiyun Smooth 4.Conclusion: The Feiyu G5V2 does a good job of stabilization 180 degree stabilization that other stabilizers cannot perform. Its motors are also surprisingly quiet and the noise does not get picked up by the cameras microphone. It's amazing that Feiyu went so far backwards in capability for the newer G6 replacement but that is perhaps why the G5V2 is still available.

I love Feiyu gimbals and this new G5 V2 is the cats meow despite my personal gripes.
I've owned five or six feiyu gimbals now and from the G4 on have totally loved them. The only reason I don't give this G5 V2 five stars is because it does not support the Hero 3 with LCD. To use it with a go pro with LCD I had to upgrade to the Hero 6. Also, in the past the screw threads on the bolts have stripped and I am really concerned about that happening on this one too. I am a huge fan of Feiyu and unfortunately I currently have three non functioning gimbals all in need of repairs (Feiyu if you are reading this please reach out to me and let me know if I can send all three in at once for repair to save on shipping costs). The best upgrade on this model is the joystick control. I love it for cinematic shots. I have used Feiyu gimbals a lot for producing our skate videos and love them but have also ran into issues with balance calibration after a lot of use that despite trying to fix with the software, has left two of my gimbals returning to their unbalanced state. If you are feeling discouraged from buying this gimbal due to this review... don't be, It's a far better value than most on the market and this new G5 V2 is an incredible value for anyone with a Hero 5 with built in LCD or newer. The build quality is great. The battery life is great. I have used my feiyu gimbals with extension poles, extended battery packs and spare batteries and have never run out of battery life. I am a little more aggressive user as I use my Feiyu on long hikes exploring ancient ruins in the SW as well as to produce a lot of skate videos. Shred Boise (my Youtube channel) features a lot of content (not all) filmed using the Feiyu. Most of my event footage and pro skateboard footage on that channel was filmed using Feiyu for a majority of the footage.

Stable, dependable buy for the price.
Came just in the nick of time. Good Packaging, complete parts.Item looks strong and durable. Heavy. Designability is not that much different with other gimbals. Battery lasts long. User friendliness for average Gopro user is about 4/5 with 5 as highest. (The app needs a lot of improvement) - I didn't use it much since it wasn't that good to begin with. The handling takes some getting used too - I just memorized the functions about 3 that I really just used a lot for filming.Stabilization works, at the least there is a much higher imrovement with video stability than without using a gimbal.I didn't give it a 5 star due to the pricing - It is expensive, and it would have been worth it if it could be used with smartphones as well or you could get an add-on purchase that could be changed to use with mobile phones.
