It is good but the cleaning might be an issue, particularly for travellers.
This a good shaver. I have tried it a few times and it is good and leaves my skin with no much irritation. I much prefer this system to the Phillipshave, which I have previously. It is easy to carry around as the changer is not necessary. The shaver can charge straigh from the plug. The only inconvenience is that while plugged it doesn't work. You will need to wait to get some charge. The biggest inconvenient I have found so far is the cleaning. This shaver is not like the other Baun I had that under the foil had some sort of 'blades' (I know they were not proper blades but lets leave it there) that cut the hair. Then just brushing everything was easy and enough. Not anymore. The system is very different and is not possible to brush clean the foil casset. Washing under running water is ok but eventually you will need to use the cleaning-charging station, which is a real pity if you have to travel for long periods. The cleaning (and charging) station is bulky and a bit inconvenient due to the space it takes. In my case the station doesn't switch off after 10 min of finishing the cleaning as it is claimed. It takes quite longer to get off, but it finally does. It leaves the shaver very clean. I would recomend anyone to brush it and blow it before putting it in the station. I even rinse it under the tap beforehand to get rid of as much debri as possible. This is because the station will end up accumulating all the dirt you don't remove and you will need to clean it. The cleaning station also need cleaning, mate. The need of new cleaning solution every couple of months is an extra expense to think about. I am not sure if there will be alternative fluids. The liquid smells very alcoholic, but I presume it also has some sort of lubricant oils that keep the casset running smoother.Said all this, for those who need to travel for long periods it might be inconvenient. The cleaning station is not possible to carry around because of the size and because the cleaning solution inside will spill. I presume you might be abe to lock it with the lid it comes with but I am not sure how tight it will hold after a few uses. If you fly, and given that it is likely to be flammable, you won't be allowed to have it in your hand luggage.. Washing it under the tap can be good but I have not got a reall good clean yet. You will need to shake it repeatedly under the water don't just leave it under running water. It is a good shaver and I like it. If you are a traveller think about the cleaning before buy it. On the traveller's advantage you do not need to carry a charger with you like it happens with others and particularly with Phillipshave. You only need the cable to plug it to the mains. As a traveller you will need to balance both and decide.

You get what you pay for and this is well worth the money!
I have bought many shavers over the years and to be honest never got on with any that good, the price range I normally buy in is around £100 but to be honest I have found mid range shavers can vary in price by up to £100 for the same shaver from different retailers while I noticed the top range models don't vary as much. A good example of this was my last shaver a Remington that is £70 on Amazon, £129 at Argos and £35 from PC World where I bought from in the bargain bin on a impulse buy. As I have now had 2 Remington shavers that I have never really got on with (1 foil and 1 rotary) I ruled out Remington so it was either this Braun or a Philips, I read a lot of mixed reviews on the high end model Philips so I went with a Braun and decided you get what you pay for so will buy the best! I was not wrong this shaver is very powerful while giving a very close shave and has 3 settings you can adjust for closeness or smoothness etc and then is even self cleaning. What more can you ask for? very happy with my purchase and easily the best shaver I have ever had plus unlike the mid range models this one is also worth buying new foils for as they only cost around £20.

Great shave but short lifespan for £
I have loved this razor, best I have had but disappointed at this price point that I have now experienced exactly the same as another reviewer, complete failure after just short of 31 months. Motor runs but head not oscillating and on/off switch not always working. Tried giving it a total dry out.Its a shame as it gave a very good shave with one new cutter head unit over the period but its a lot of money given that Braun suggest a 7 year lifespan.

A definite step up from the Braun 340cc
I've always used a wet shave but recently started trying my son's Braun Series 3 340cc electric shaver. It was OK, but not good enough to replace a razor, so after reading several reviews I decided to plump for this top of the range version. That, and the fact that Amazon were doing a special one day discount of 25%!So, how does this compare? Well, it definitely gives a much closer shave than the 340cc and no matter how hard I press it gives me no irritation whatsoever. It's a joy to use, in fact. I wouldn't say it gives as close a shave as a wet, although it does in places, but overall it gives a more than satisfactory result. I'm very pleased with it. i don't use the three modes and just leave it on full power all the time. Tbh, they seem a bit of a gimmick when the shaver is so gentle on the skin even at full power. But, for those saying that they only need one or two passes I can only say I envy your skin/growth. If I did just one or two passes I'd look like I hadn't even bothered. Unlike a blade, I find I have to shave up, down, left, right and all shades of diagonal in between before my skin is left feeling baby smooth. And this is where this unit comes into its own, because no matter how often I went over the same area I never got so much as a hint of irritation, which could not be said of the 340cc. Some areas need a lot more work - like others, I found that the neck needed some pretty persistent shaving before getting the desired result. In fact, I found shaving sideways worked best there, for some reason. The chin and round the mouth was pretty straightforward, but my cheeks once again need a little workout. Maybe it's just me. Time-wise, I have to say that I don't think it saves me much at all over a wet razor shave, although for some reason it feels much less bother overall. It's certainly less messy! And speaking of wet shaves, I haven't tried this in the shower yet. It's been strictly dry, so can't comment on the rest. Nice to know it's possible should I need it, though.Cleaning the unit is straightforward. I tend to use a brush for a couple of days and the cleaning station every third day. I've only had it a month so if it looks like the solution evaporates before I've used it all I may speed up the regime, but as others have said it leaves it smelling and feeling like new, so full marks there.Overall I'm very happy with it and glad I made the purchase. It is expensive, but considering I shave every day it's worth it. And the small mortgage needed for the Gillette razors meant that I tried to eke them out for several weeks, so by the end of it I used to get unpleasant irritation due to the fact the blade lost a lot of its sharpness. That's a thing of the past, I'm pleased to say. I'd definitely recommend the Braun 799cc to anyone considering taking the plunge. I'm very glad I did.
