Excellent for anti-glare, not great for privacy though!
I bought this 3M Gold filter for its anti-glare feature, so I use it with the black (matt) side facing out rather than the gold. I chose the gold filter product because it offered greater clarity. I used to get terrible eyestrain and subsequent headaches whenever using my laptop. I have got to say, even though this piece of plastic is pricey, for me it is well worth it for the anti-glare feature alone. I only wish I had figured out a long time ago that a simple piece of plastic could eliminate those pains! Some reviewers had mentioned issues with clarity and that their filter was causing the screen to blur etc. - that is *possibly* just down to getting the wrong resolution and aspect ratio filter for the screen. I have a 17" MacBook Pro with a resolution of 1920 x1200 and 16:10 aspect ratio hence I checked 3M's website to find the filter with the appropriate resolution/aspect ratio, as such, the filter I bought gives perfect clarity.On the privacy feature, I agree with reviews that state that the viewing angle is just too wide - although the gold side (because of it's highly reflective quality) is better at providing privacy than the black side. My issue with privacy filters in the general sense, is that if someone is directly behind you they can still see what you are doing/working on any how. Until some genius solves that issue the concept of privacy for a computer screen doesn't really exist.To end on a good note - this product does a fantastic job to eliminate glare and that's why I've awarded it the five stars.

Provides privacy but difficult for owner to read screen too
The filter is easy to fit and does provide privacy. However, neither the website nor the packaging made it clear that, although either side of the filter can be left uppermost, both sides are shiny and reflective. I find this makes it difficult to read the screen for any length of time. A matte surface would be much easier on the eyes.

It is not gold and it makes me got a headache . Because there and thousands of tiny square on the screen . Vision is terrible ......
