Bring back those old LA memories of CHIPS
I was born and raised in LA so seeing the valley and surrounding cities from 40+ years ago is a trip back in time. Especially on 210 freeway that was new, but not opened yet, so it was a great film location .Fun story lines, and not too heavy. Usually a happy ending.Go Ponch and John!!!!

Wonderful camaraderie! Great rescue scenes! Great directing! What's not to like?
Chips came out in 1977 when I was a kid and I used to watch it every week! I've been looking for good old shows to watch with my daughter and we love Chips, especially the first two seasons! I have to say: it holds up very well! Are there some cheesy moments?--especially when Ponch dances at the disco or at the end of the show when the camera freezes on their faces in goofy ways? Yes, there are some cheesy moments but even they produce laughter and in these days, what could be wrong with that? But really, there is a lot of good stuff here! Ponch and Jon were good guys and therefore they were very good cops! They are very good role models for young kids today. (And even adults). They always did the right thing or at least tried to. This show promotes a positive view of police. These episodes are simply wonderful! The camaraderie between them is great to watch! The camera angles of them riding their motorcycles is fantastic as is the directing in general. I find myself saying constantly in just about every episode--"Oh that's a good shot right there!" It has action, explosions, crazy accidents, cars flipping and flying through the air. They really went all out with this show and it is exciting to watch! The music was great, especially if you like jazzy, funky instrumental music which I do! (And what a theme song!)There are several really well done rescue scenes on these first two seasons, in particular when they have to save the two girls who drive their car into a backyard swimming pool! Very impressive underwater photography! Or when Jon jumps onto an out of control school bus full of kids. There's also more humor than one would think. Jon was especially funny in many episodes! Overall, in my opinion this is a great way for parents to bond with their kids without all the crazy nonsense that is out there today. (Like the horrible Chips movie with its sex scenes. Larry Wilcox hated that movie!)The only negative thing I can say about the show is that it tends to objectify women in some scenes, such as when the camera focuses on a sexy woman as she walks away and Ponch looks her up and down. I'd rather not see that but considering our choices of entertainment in the modern world, I'll put up with a few scenes such as this (or scantily clad women) because it is such a good show otherwise. Plus, those shots give me an opportunity to teach my daughter about how the world objectifies women, therefore stirring up lust, which seems harmless at first, but always leaves us unsatisfied and empty in the end. But otherwise, this is a great show! Seasons 3,4, and 5 are also good but they tend to focus more on the crooks and and less on Jon and Ponch and the action of the freeway. Also, the scantily clad women and the sexiness increase in those seasons. Nothing compares with the magic of the first two seasons! Check it out!

Disco Cops On Bikes!
What can I say that hasn't already been said about CHiP's? It's good clean fun about a strange land and time far away and long ago: 70's Disco-era California! LOL! Disco Cops on bikes, all the hot 70's mama's in their skin-tight polyester and Dorothy Hamill hairdo's, crap-tastic vintage 70's cars and bikes (which crash and flip regularly), the plethora of nostalgic guest stars, etc. ...what's not to like?A word about the packaging: Cardboard outer sleeves and "slimline" plastic DVD cases hold the DVD's. For what has to be a "cost saving" move by WHV, the second season substitutes those lousy "flipper" (re: double-sided) DVD's for the single-sided DVD's with proper artwork on the top surface as used in the first season set. You know, the one's that develop errors and/or become unplayable as time goes by (if they play at all when new). Come on Warner, give us the quality we're paying for with our hard-earned dosh! Now...where's the remaining season sets?Four stars for content, One star for the double-sided discs of season two!ADDENDUM: CHiP's Seasons 1-2 are now available repackaged as individual sets of single-sided disks for BOTH seasons in more typical 'stacker-style" DVD boxes, instead of the "slim-line" sleeves in cardboard boxes that this combo set originally had. Of course they're no longer packaged as a set, and the price has increased. In addition, Season 3 is out and also packaged as single-sided discs in stacker boxes, with Season 4 packaged likewise and available for pre-order as of Jan 2016.
