Compact and does the job
Far better than a plugin rcd as it is small, not much bigger than a conventional plug. Also, it doesn't reset itself each time it was switched off.I bought this for a a Smeg 4 slice toaster which tripped our rcd. I would rather reset this than climb a ladder in the dark to reset the one in the garage. It is unconventional in the way you wire it, three screw contacts under a small cover at its base, incorporating a cable grip. Why Smeg didn't fit such a device inside a one hundred pounds plus toaster I really can't imagine. Greed?

Good price, works well
Couldn't believe what these going for. This one had reasonable price but doesn't look cheap. Actually looks really solid, noce finish. All tested (test button only of course :-)) and works well.

Good unit and well priced
This unit comes very nicely boxed, and appears to be well designed and well made. The front plate is a very 'white' white, with a glossy finish - a little different to most sockets, but very smart (if that matters). The little red indicator that shows when the RCD is set is a mechanical flag rather than a neon or LED lamp, but that's OK as lamps can fail. The RCD is mechanically latched, so that it does not trip out in the event of a power cut - that's important. The unit is no deeper than a standard socket, so should fit an existing wall box. The mounting screws are unusual in that they will accept a cross-point screwdriver, which is handy. Apart from the L and N terminals, there are two Earth terminals, one on either side - a nice touch. I have only one niggle, which is that the terminal holes are not very deep. As a result, you have to be sure to keep the wires pushed in very firmly while you are tightening the screws - if they pull back even a little then the screw will not clamp them properly, as I found out. It's not a major issue, but it is the reason I am giving it four stars rather than the full five - I'd give it four and half if I could.Overall, I am very pleased with it, so much so that I have just ordered another!

Easy
Nice and easy, just a bit bigger than a standard plug. I have it on the cable to the garden extension, everything then plugged into the extension is covered

Good product in appearance. Bad delivery method.
Sturdy. Not connected yet but shall use it in my camper van at the other end of my EHU. Not happy with the delivery though as had no idea it had been delivered until after 11pm when checking my e-mails. No card at front door to indicate that it was tucked well out of sight by my wheelie bin ! Ridiculous ! It could have been there until next day and beyond.I expect a card first at the door.

Good quality and works great
Put this in my kitchen as I feed a hookup to my caravan from it. This ensures if too much power is pulled from caravan it trips without turning electric off in the house. Highly recommended

this is a good product for little money
when I first started to fit the plug no instructions to fit the wiring I tried to undo only screw i could see then realised compartment at base would slide off .I notice reading reviews of screws of cable clip are to long they are ok if you hold down outer cable and not just 3 inner wires of cable . when I tested plug it tripped all my 1st an2nd floor sockets on main fuse box this is normal for a R C D when your testing if its working .

An effective latching RCD, though a little fiddly to wire
This is a review of "Knightsbridge RCDAV002 RCD Safety Plug, White" (I note that there are several products on this page). Most importantly, this is a LATCHING (i.e. passive) RCD. Exactly that I needed. Latching means that if there is a power cut, when the power returns the RCD is "ON" (i.e. supplies power). I am using this for a fridge, so that is exactly what I needed. These are harder to find than the alternative - a NON-LATCHING (or active) RCD. With those, when there is a power cut, they stay off, even if the power comes back on again, and you have to press a button to reset them - they are best for devices where it would be dangerous if the power returned unexpectedly (e.g. a power tool like a lawnmower). It seems that latching RCDs are a lot harder to find these days.Generally this is a good RCD. Only downside is that the wiring is rather tight, and the connectors are the flat plate clamp type, with short screws, so if you are using think cable it is tricky to wire (though possible, with some patience). It's my 2nd purchase of this so I can recommend - just be prepared to spend the time wiring it carefully.
