Helped increase my routers upload/download broadband speed by 100%.
Having broadband issues due to slow speed. Done a little internet checking and found some information that interference at home can have a negative impact on broadband speed, especially at the master socket and where phone extension lines are fitted. I have one extension cable to the small bedroom upstairs. So before contacting my ISP and potentially getting hit by an engineer call out charge and possible more later to fix the problem, I followed the checking procedure to test if there may be an internal issue. When my router was connected to the test socket on the main phone master socket, I found that my router upload/download speed jumped from 3Mb/13.5Mb to 6.5Mb/25Mb when connected. This effectively indicated my broadband was being greatly affect by interference. An internal issue, which would mean being hit by an engineer charge and no doubt some more to rectify the problem. After further reading, chose to take the plunge and purchase this to replace the base plate on the Master Socket for phone. Basically this plate helps to reduce interference that may be affecting the broadband speed from extension phone wires and other cabling. It effectively means that filters are no longer required on all phone extensions, but also all phone extensions can no longer be used for broadband. If a wireless router is used, this is not to much of a problem in my case. The plate supplied 2 sets of long screws, the base plate and a small tag and some instructions in relation to extension wires and how to connect to these to the base plate. Cut a long story short, I switched over the base plate, connected the extension phone leads to the base plate base and connected my modem/router using a RJ11 to RJ45 cable. My router now shows upload/download of 6.7Mb/27.5 Mb. That is over 100% increase in what my router previously said was possible (broadband is fibre to cabinet). I did have to buy a RJ-11 to RJ45 cable to connect my modem/router to the VDSL2 socket, which I bought a LINDY 1m RJ-11 to RJ45 cable. The phone connects to the normal phone socket. For me it has been well worth the expense. I have increased the broadband upload/download speed by over 100% relating to my router, potentially saving £60+ to have an engineer visit and most likely charge more to rectify the situation and in the process negated one issue that was causing a broadband issue at my home. Please note - you may not get an instant increase in the broadband speeds, even though the router now shows the upload/download speed has increased on the line. I have read it takes about 2/3 days for the exchange to acknowledge the capability and stability of the line, before the speeds are increased accordingly.

It ok but not needed
It’s not the best product. It is very easy to assemble however this did not help to boost my Internet signal. Now that I have done my research it has just helped to split signal at the box instead of using an ADSL cable

Immediate doubling of download speed
Well, what can I say. 2 years of back and forth with BT complaining about poor broadband - usually only to be told by someone 4000 miles away in a call centre that my broadband is fine, resolved thanks to a car ramming a telegraph pole outside which forced BT to send someone to physically fix the line and I reached the giddy heights of 2mb download up from around 300k woo-hoo!However as neighbours were now getting 5mb download I still felt like the poor relation. I then discovered via various videos that an I plate would isolate the ADSL from any additional phone wiring in the house. As my router was located at my master socket it was worth a try.Immediately having connected in the plate, my broadband speed doubled. Now getting 4mb down and 1mb up, well worth a few pounds just to save the agony of speaking to BT call centres again!

The details say this is designed for VDSL too, ...
The details say this is designed for VDSL too, I hope so as I will have some unhappy customers if it's not. VDSL filters are backward compatible to ADSL but NOT the other way. look for SIN498 and SIN346 compatible products if you are retro fitting yourself.

Great little gadget
This makes life so much easier when moving to faster broadband. As long as you have access to the master socket, and you don't mind the router being close to it, you just replace the socket with this one and plug in the router. The feeds to extension phones are automatically filtered, so don't need individual filters.

Trebled my broadband speed
The single most effective way of speeding up your broadband, in my view. My supplier says my speeds should be between 6 and 19 Mbps (we are fibre to the cabinet and the cabinet is about a mile away). We were getting between 6 and 8 Mbps but redecorating led me to investigate the telephone extension wiring in the house, and I learned that the speed could be imprioved by filtering the broadband at the main socket only rather than at each socket in the house. A quick test using the test socket behind the existing faceplate confirmed we could be getting much higher speeds. The new faceplate is an easy fit and I am now getting 24Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload (I suspect the latter is throttled by my provider). Could not be happier. Highly recommended.

Ideal Filter Replacement for Older BT Master Sockets
Bought this to upgrade an old ADSL filter for VDSL broadband. Works well and gave me an extra 7% download speed and 5% upload speed. However be aware that it is only suitable for use on older (NTE-5A or NTE-5B) BT master sockets. The latest version of the master socket (NTE-5C) that is currently being installed by BT Openreach has the test socket in a different place and this filter will not connect to it properly.

Failed after a couple of months, caused broadband outage and charges to fix
This face plate appeared to work well but it failed after a short period, causing repeated dropouts on broadband and noise on phone calls. Having used it to replace the original face plate I assumed it would be working so I thought the faults were external. Openreach engineer visited to fix the fault which was this rubbish so I had to pay for ISP engineer to fix it. This pile of poo cost me £200. Avoid it.
