Drobo DRDS5A31 NAS Server

Upon opening this item, you see that Drobo take care with its presentation. The first box is the cables and the warranty card. Under this is the unit, that is neatly in a Drobo bag.Really easy to set the hardware to this unit. this up and all the manuals are accessible from the Drobo web site.The dashboard software is needing to be downloaded, and the registration process can take some time to see this in your created profile.The only issue that I found with this item is that it comes with an EU kettle lead, but replacing this with a UK kettle lead has allowed me to power this device up.

I bought this because of it's dual ethernet capability - I wanted to speed up data transferAfter a month of trying various dual port ethernet adapters, I couldn't get it to transfer any quicker than a standard Drobo - and that's with an M.2 ssd card to ensure that the transfers weren't held up by slow disksI'm quite techie, but I couldn't get it to deliver any perrformance increasesI hope you do better

I have used many NAS drivers from DROBO and other companies over the years but this one has all the best features in one compact sized unit. I find it great for my home made videos using the plex app which it just a few clicks to install.

Oh dear, should have learned last time I tried a Dropbox, just terrible.

The product arrived on time and in good condition. Unfortunately the support from the manufacturer of the Drobo was not as helpful as I expected. I had to raise a number of questions using the malfunctioning webpages. I was then told that I should only have created one and added to it. This is not helpful as there was no information of how long I had to wait for an/any answer. I eventually found a solution one I hope I never have to repeat. The answer was reset the unit to factory settings. I then had to re-establish the shares and users I had set up and start over again. Perhaps there was a better solution but none was forthcoming from the manufacturer's support team. SO BEWARE YOU MASY HAVE TO RESET IT ALL AND START AGAIN. I am taking the risk as I have an earlier NAS with sufficient space to manage for now.

I bought this to replace an old Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ 4-bay NAS. At first, it worked great, but after two months it has disappeared off my home network. I can ping it, but the Dashboard cannot see it, no matter what I do (reboot everything lots of times, try a direct cable, try several client devices, reinstall the Dashboard app). The status light is green, suggesting all is fine, but obviously, it isn't. Extremely disappointed. Will now try a Synology one instead and return this one. I suggest you avoid.

Item as described, Purchasing a drobo do your research first as there is a lot of variant models, Note DROBO HAS TO FORMAT ANY DRIVES YOU INSERT as this is how they work. I took a long time to decide on this model the 5n2 NAS drobo for access from any were over the net. had a problem registering machine e. mailed drobo they sorted it within an hr. added a sata ssd accelorator drive 500gb to it for faster read time there is a great difference. Its defiantly is slower than a directly connected unit as i do have a 5d connected with a thunder wire transferring a lot of stuff over just now and taking a while hoping it settles down once all stuff is installed very easy to set up dashboard is Great has all the info you need don't need a lot of computer tech geek knowledge to connect this and set up ideal for a large storage unit accessible from anywhere
