Black DiamondIcon Head lamp 500 lumens

I use this Black Diamond Icon Head lamp for caving expeditions. Really bright light! Got one touch max brightness which is very handy. RGB light settings for saving your night vision. Which is nice. White light strobe mode for attracting attention. Lock mode so it doesn't get turned on in transport. I upgraded to this light and probably be using this headlamp for a very long time as it's a good one. Pricey but worth it in the long run.

Feels slightly less sturdy than v1, probably because of the actual light unit not being metal (or at least, not apparently so), but crucially, they have fixed the absolutely flawed and weakened battery compartment locking mechanism that was on the icon v1This is the icon, the previous model should have been...which is handy, as black diamond customer service might as well not exist

Arrived quickly.Great head torch.Very bright.

This product is nice and bright and has coloured LEDS that protect night vision. It also, dims and flashes. The first impression is that a second button would be useful, the combinations of pressing, holding, double pressing of the same button are uncessesarily complex.The coloured LEDs are not in the main bulb but the side ones - see the attached photos.

I like the fact that it has 3 different colours which work very well for coloured LEDs .I like the dimming feature alot .It needs a dedicated button for main beam on/off instead of fiddling .The main fault with it is it is not anyway powerful enough .On paper it should ace my princeton apex i bought it to replace but light output at highest is well overrated .I sent it back and bought another apex instead .I use it for outdoor work and cycling and it just wasnt good enought .

Doesn’t work, totally faulty, looking to return.

Great lamping light

As Scandinavian sailor & craftsman I have used this headlamp extensively during rain and freezing winter.Different coloured light and intensivity is a great help maintaining 100% night vision.Switching from low red to max bright is done with a single press.Regulating all three colours from minimum to max, including memory of last level, is well made and very useful.The only switch could have been larger using gloves or cold fingers, and an extra switch would've been simpler.I find this minor issues.The major flaws are the mechanical design and mediocre standard, as recognised in another review.Despite no bumping or harsh handling the closing mechanism broke, exposing the batteries to moisture and rain.The output in lumen may be exaggerated. I'm able to light up the mast head, bow and eventual bouys in narrow waters.If battery casing are mechanical upgraded, I would buy it again.

This headlamp is great. I’ve owned this model previously and the updates on the current iteration are great: better battery compartment cover (more robust latch), extendable cord for use off of your head etc.It is an external battery type model (battery on back of head with connections cord to front light) so you should make sure you want that.Band can be easily adjusted.The switch to different modes is a bit too complex for what I need in a headlamp but you get used to it. Not really sure I need to tap out Morse code to change from main light to others.If the cord is not well joined together (screw/type Weather resist connection) they light will not function well (low brightness) but the blinking indicator light tells you something is up. Shouldn’t be an issue but did happen once.Great light.

Was looking at the crazy expensive 500 dollar petzl one and then seen this and it matches the petzl one my coworker has. I have the 300 lumen one for hunting and in my truck and I’m always forgetting to take it to work so it’s nice to have this head mounted sun of a light always on hand for work when it gets dark when I’m rappelling

Cette lampe est parfaitement adaptée à toutes les situations complexes qui nécessitent une rigueur sans faille. Le champs de vision est aussi large que ce que peut percevoir l'oeil, cela permet de se déplacer en montagne de nuit tout en n'ayant pas de coins sombres même devant les pieds. La touche tactile sur le boitier permet d'envoyer tous les watts en cas d'urgence ce qui représente un éclairage démoniaque. Sur ce modèle en plus du rouge et du vert la couleur bleue fait son apparition, loin d'être un gadget ces couleurs ne sont pas bien perçues par les animaux marins et les pêcheurs pourrons bien voir sans être vu ! Totalement étanches même après des heures d'immersion elle supportera de mauvais traitements sans broncher durant une dizaine d'année. Pour ma part la marque Black Diamond est "la" marque de référence pour les sportifs de l'extrême, les chasseurs, les pêcheurs, les campeurs et toutes les activités qui nécessitent un haut niveau d'exigence.
