Maiden Outing
This is where it all began. It is a little rougher, more punky and has Paul Di'anno's vocals but you can still hear the makings of the band they are today. This is very much of its time whereas what they have now transformed into is almost perennial. But this is one of the best starting points of all time!Prowler - time-tested classic. It is raw and dirty with a perfect riff.Sanctuary - not on the original cut of the album but just as worthy as the other tracks. More punky.Remember Tomorrow - classic. Completely different from newer material but with a chorus riff that has followed them through the years.Running Free - classic throwaway single with an infectious chorus.Phantom of the Opera - first real evidence of the Maiden they would become. Cu-lassic!Transylvania - great little instrumental.Strange World - Like Remember - awesome but very un-Iron Maiden-yCharlotte the Harlot - punky, Prowlery minor classicIron Maiden - same as Charlotte really - a classic but an old one.Overall excellent, 5 star, pantheon of all time classic albums ever! If you do not own it and are a metal or rock fan - for shame! If you have even not heard of it - I despair.

... was a teenager and I regarded it then as brilliant. I still do
I bought this when the record came out when I was a teenager and I regarded it then as brilliant. I still do. Iron Maiden may have become one of the best HM bands since Paul D'ianno left but you're either a Paul D'ianno fan or you like Bruce Dickinson. For me it was always the former because his singing brought a bit of the Punk ethos to HM (which was good) as opposed to the 1980's HM Spandex style singing of Bruce Dickinson.

Iron Maiden 1
This is a decent album to start with and, although it doesn't feature the iconic Bruce Dickinson on vocals, Paul Di'Anno's voice is still very good. There are no stand out tracks that I would constantly listen to, but that doesn't mean they're all bad.The CDROM content is okay and a great way of giving you your money's worth of space on the disc. It includes two very grainy videos; you are able to change the size from small to about half the size of your screen but no full screen option is available, which is no big loss since it's very low quality even on the smallest setting. Also included is a detailed biography, a family tree explaining where all the band members come from, a list of tour dates, album art for all the remastered CDs, many pictures and samples of music from other albums.Packaging is a standard CD case and comes with a booklet containing lyrics for all songs and loads of pictures and album art.All in all a decent buy to complete a collection, but not as good as some of their later stuff.Highlights: `Running Free', `Phantom Of The Opera', `Charlotte The Harlot'.Track Listings1. Brilliant debut
For years I wondered what the rock track on the old BASF advert was. For 30 years I've hunted it and finally I found it on here - Phantom of the Opera. It was worth the wait. I need not have worried about buying a pre-Bruce album. It is a bit raw, but that's how I like my metal.

One of the best
Bought this to relive some teenage years....it's as great as I remember. The first two albums (D'anno Period) will always be the best for me, I think he was a phenomenal vocalist and a shame he had to leave.
