Excellent cooler for an i3 or i5 (non-overclocked)Just added this cooler to my build yesterday - an i3-3470 IVY-BRIDGE Rig with Asus P8-Z68-V. Mobo.It can rev up to 3000rpm only if it needs to, but you can barely even hear the fan, its quiet.Because of the i3 build this is all you need, as the intel stock cooler went in the bin, as itsnoisey, and not fit for purpose...However the K32 Akasa cooler is a bargain and keeps temps cool, comes with heat paste applied ready.The one fab thing about this mini performance cooler (by Akasa) is NO Need to remove the motherboard,nope, it comes direct out of the packing and is fitted practically inside 3-5 min's flat, just make sureyour CPU is nice and clean (very clean surface, important), I use Akasa TIM Cleaner nice smell too!Anyway, all you do is line it up, and gently lower the "Aluminum heat sink K32 Fan" onto the Processorsocket, then carefully clip the 4 pins into the motherboard holes ready waiting, I just pushed it intoplace, then went around each of the 4 pins making sure they are nicely secured onto the motherboard socketholes, they clip into perfectly, you don't need to wrestle with it unlike some other budget coolers, (Perfect).Unlike some other coolers that don't need a Board back-plate, you do not need to tighten the screws up, well INever, and its very secure... (if you try to turn the screws) ONCE PRESSED, the pins reverse and come out of the holes.Just 'give it a firm Push in', that does the trick, and at the same time 'do NOT put too much pressure on the board'.Or you risk damaging it, 'especially if you have strong hands'. (apart from that; 'its the easiest cooler install' Ihave come across), it just (will be ideal for "1st time builders")... as it comes "ready" with high quality heat paste".So its all ready, and Amazons Price is an absolute steal. I overclocked my i5 3470 by "100Mhz" - all I was going to get, 'CPU being locked', very easily done, with ASUS P8-Z68-V.Also I have now used it on my Ivy-Bridge i5 3330, and i5 3470 processor's (non K) variety.! it handles the thermal dissipationvery well indeed, away much more than the 95w its intended for, however not to worry because Ivy-bridge are only 65w-77w.Good-luck, money very well spent, even had delivery inside 24hrs, via Amazon.co.uk Prime Membership, free next day delivery onall Amazon UK purchases, not 3rd party sellers... This is an excellent fan. I have always gone AMD in the past and their stock fans are pretty good but this time I decided to go with Intel i5 and the stock fan was not fit for purpose. I had temperatures of 50C on idol and even playing the MS Windows 7 chess game would send the temperatures into the 70s. Playing Guild Wars just shut the computer down if I had anything else open.I didn't want something massive in my case because I have had problems in the past with fans too big for the motherboard to hold. This nice little fan does the job nicely. I removed the pre-applied thermal paste and used some Artic-Silver 5, and now my idol temperatures are in the 20s, simple applications sends it to 34C and playing computer games it never goes above 60. The hottest I have had it is 62C and that was working on 3 Word documents, several internet browsers open, playing youtube, watching a film from the computer, ventrilo open, playing a computer game in 3D and burning a data disc all at the same time (wanted to see how well the fan performed).Very pleased with the product.I am not clocking the cpu though - so that may change performance - but if you are not clocking, then get rid of the stock fan and get one of these. The heat sink is twice the size of the stock fan and it is about the same size as an amd stock fan.
