excellent machine
I am delighted with my machine. I only had a cuttlebug before and had 2 years of great use from it, but it was limiting. Now anything is possible as takes A4 paper/card. The numbered dial for adjustment of roller height is so easy to use, no more assorted shims !!! Price is £35 cheaper than my local craft shop plus free delivery, which was super fast. Cannot fault it.

Die cutting made easy
Will cut a wide range of materials; good value for money; sturdy and much easier to use than I thought it would be.

Etching Press
I was recomended by a friend as I wanted an inexpensive etching press for small plates 6"/4"I was disapionted when it arrived as it looked all plastic. I had to order a different bed for etching an extra £25.00It is amazing, it prints very well, I run each plate through twice. It takes time to get the amount of paper padding right.I have used it non stop throughout this "lock down" I am careful never to force the winder when rolling the bed through the rollers. I adjusted the dial to 7.5 which is higher than recomended.I think it is great!

'A not very happy purchaser'
Extremely disappointed with this machine, needed to size up to A4 from my trusty cuttlebug read the reviews and plumped for this machine.Have load of xcut dies which are great, well made, but this machine does not fit into that category It will cut smaller dies if you place them down the sides of the plate,[but i was able to do that on the cuttlebug] It does not cut at all in the middle of the plate so larger dies and dies for cutting out stepper cards etc. are only cut on one edge and the fold lines on these dies are non existent . It is not always possible to turn the die because of its size. Was expecting great things but it did not happen.

and looks sturdy enough. My first attempt at cutting on some ...
Arrived quicker than expected, and looks sturdy enough. My first attempt at cutting on some scrap copy paper was fine, and the die cut cleanly. However, as soon as I tried to use some slightly heavier cartridge paper, not only did I not get a clean cut, but I had to raise the roller higher than the instruction book suggested. It was impossible to turn the cranking handle with the recommended 5.6 or 6 on the dial. I do have to confess that the die cutters were not by Xcut Xpress, although it does say on the box that most dies can be used. I had also previously painted the paper with acrylic paint, but again, it was a normal coating, not applied thickly, and was bone dry. The embossing did work beautifully though. I have also purchased a rubber mat, as they seem to be a must according to most of the reviews I read, but I'm not sure where, or how to use it, so haven't worked that out yet. Maybe that's why I haven't had much success, so I would welcome any suggestions.

Bought as a portable printing press rather than for It’s original purpose
I use this for printing intaglio, Lino cuts, collagraphs etc. With an extended bed ( bought from a print suppliers), this makes a perfect little press.
