A great external Blu Ray drive.This is such a great blu ray player I have had no problems with using this player. I used it few times to watch movies but I got it mainly to rip and back up my blu rays. I haven't burnt anything on to it as I backup everything on an external hard drive. I don't use it to watch movies as I use an external hard drive with movies on it and connected to my Nvidia Shield.It has fast speeds and when playing back the ripped files it's exactly the same, there is no quality loss or any difference I can see.I admit it's a little big but that's ok for the result and quality of the player. It's a simple black box design nothing to fancy and sits well with my PC tower and my external hard drives. The quality is well built and since it's a big box it has its own power supply, it's not a USB powered.The external blu ray drive works flawlessly on my desktop with Windows 8.1. this blu ray drive is a simple plug and play drive no need to install additional software drivers etc.Not much else I can say, Ive been using it for a week now and so far no complaints Works well smooth playback.

I've had this for a little while, and use it with my Mac. Plug and Play; for the most part it works straight out of the box. Just plug it in and you can burn and read CDs and DVDs with no problem, and without having to install any additional software.I did notice that it did fail to even read a particular CD I had. The CD was one of those black CDs that were a bit of a novelty in the 2000's. I can only guess that the bluray laser is filtered out by the black layer in a way that the lasers of CD/DVD writers aren't.As for Bluray discs, for OSX you will need software for reading and writing them. You can easily find software on the app store.The drive is fast. Read speeds are exceptional. Write speeds are good, but not quite what is promised.

Works great in the end but be warned that if you burn discs with the built-in writer of Windows 10, CDBurnerXP or Nero, it has a 50% failure rate! I was about to send it back but I tried ImgBurn as a last resort and... 100% success rate with all media! I have since successfully recorded countless discs including BD, DVD and CD media without a single failure so the hardware is definitely not defective. I experimentally tried again with the built-in and it failed. So stick to ImgBurn and this drive is perfect. *I think it also came with some other software but I lost the disc.* I would have given 5 stars but the pickiness in software was a bit disappointing.

this blu-ray drive does what it says on the can.... it works.before i purchased this drive i had a slimline drive which was nothing but trouble so i bought the buffalo drive... not for its looks as it won't win any beauty contests but i just can't fault it.it is significantly larger than slimline drives but looks and feels well made and is a signifficant weight.the disc tray opens and closes automatically with one touch of a button, very smooth and you don't have to clip your dvd into the drive, just lay it in the tray and your good to go.it burns dvds i would say twice as fast as slimline burners, very quiet and efficient.the blu-ray discs i have burnt obviosly take longer than dvds but still it is fairly quick and i have been more than happy with the results in the quality of the burnt discs.the only thing that i was a little concerned about is the fact that before i bought it the spec sheet shows that it is for windows and does not support mac os so it kind of gives you the impression that if you are on a mac it might not work but that applies to the media suite dvd if you want the software but for me all the software i use on my mac for blu-ray/dvds such as burn, apple compressor and toast titanium.... they all recognise the buffalo drive and work seamlessly with it so in short if you are on a mac or windows computer this is one hell of a drive to own and yes i highly recommend it.

*** UPDATE #2 ***The replacement item arrives less than 24hrs after I talk to Amazon (great service), but it's DOA. No power light, no response at all when I connect it to the mains. I don't think even I'm that unlucky. Now, Amazon are telling me that they can't send me a second replacement but instead, HAVE to refund me. Crazy. So, I'll have to take the refund, then place another order for my 3rd drive (another star deducted). I've decided to admit defeat and look at other drives (possibly internal SATA units)...it's such a shame because when this works, it's very good indeed.****** UPDATE ***After barely 4 months since purchase, this drive is now completely dead. I'm guessing it's the external PSU, rather then the drive itself, but that hardly matters. Thanks to Amazon's amazing customer service, my replacement drive should arrive tomorrow. For now, I'll assume this was a one off (1 star deducted).***I built a PC a couple of years ago and decided that I didn't want to spoil the aesthetics (bulky front panel, more inside cabling to be visible through the case's windows) or add to the weight, so, I bought a Samsung slim-line USB2 DVD/BR drive. The constant disconnection drops (even when in the middle of burning a disc) and refusal of Windows to often even recognise that the drive was connected, lead me to believe I had an issue with my PC/USB controller.I hesitated for several weeks before buying this external drive, but I'm very glad I took the plunge. My old Samsung drive (which could read but not write Blu-ray discs) was about £20 and a good internal SATA drive would be around £30-£40, so £100+ seemed pretty expensive and I initially toyed with the idea of buying an external 5.25" caddy which I could fit an internal SATA optical drive into.After having this drive for a few weeks, I now realise that any problems I had with my old Samsung drive were caused by the drive itself and nothing to do with my PC. This external Buffalo unit works like a dream. It's plug-and-play (simply connect it and Windows installs the driver), quiet, and fast. My current DVD media is only rated to 16x, so that's the maximum speed I've been able to burn discs at, but so far, so good. I don't have a need to burn Blu-ray discs, but have used this to rip many of my Blu-ray movies and where the Samsung simply refused to read certain discs, I've yet to find one which this drive can't handle.Expensive, but worth the price.

Masterizzatore molto veloce, affidabile e abbastanza silenzioso, l'aspetto è sobrio, plastiche semplici e di discreta fattura, monta un rispettabile Pioneer BDR-209M, può essere disposto sia orizzontalmente che verticalmente, a questo scopo sono posizionati 4 gommini antiscivolo sia sul lato inferiore che quello laterale sinistro, in più il carrello di supporto disco dispone di alette per trattenerlo quando viene posizionato verticalmente. Non ha interruttori quindi si accende e si spegne con il pc quando collegato, vi consiglio di controllare che le dimensioni vi vadano bene, io non avevo problemi in questo senso e quelle riportate sono corrette ma quando l'ho aperto sono rimasto un po' sorpreso perchè mi aspettavo qualche cosa di più trasportabile, se è questo che cercate vi consiglio di guardare anche qualcos'altro, diversamente se vi serve un masterizzatore esterno che non dobbiate portarvi in giro più di tanto, questo a mio avviso è ottimo. usb 3.0 ok, fait le job, en combo avec des BD-R maxell 0 erreur jusque là (10 BR gravés). vitesse des maxell x4, meme en poussant la gravure en x6 0 erreur. suite logicielle interessante si on en dispose pas.

Ich habe mir den Brenner für die Erstellung von Blu rays gekauft. Mit den bisherigen Brennergebnissen bin ich mehr als zufrieden. Als Programm zur Erstellung meiner Videofilme verwende ich Video Magix Professional 2014. Die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Programm und Brenner ist tadellos. Bisher hatte ich noch keine einzige kaputte Scheibe egal was ich gebrannt habe. Die gebrannten Scheiben lassen sich alle samt von meinem Media-Player Playstation 3 und meinem Samsung Blu ray Player einwandfrei lesen. Die Qualität stimmt also und das Tempo ist auch an er derzeitigen oberen Grenze. Was will man mehr. Der Brenner hinterläßt einen sehr robusten Eindruck sowohl optisch als auch in der Haptik und Gewicht. Die mitgelieferte SW Cyberlink Suite finde ich ist nicht gerade der Bringer. Das mag jedoch auch an meinem Verständnis liegen.Ein richtig gutes Stück Hardware mit welchem ich immer wieder gerne arbeite. La verdad estoy encantado con lector/grabador externo, es muy rapido tanto leyendo los bd como grabandolos. Desde que lo tengo ningun fallo.La unica pega que le veo . Por poner una pega ,es que es grandecito el lector/grabador. Esa seria la unica pega.
