Great module when you understand how to use the connections

I bought one of these alongside the actual iCON fan to replace an existing, failed Aitflow unit. As a drop-in replacement it works great. I also took this opportunity to switch to a humidity module. I can’t think of any cons other than that quieter units from other brands are available. The instructions weren’t exactly clear how you configure the module to run so I’ll add some notes here from my own googling. A key aspect not made explicitly clear in the instructions is that you do not have to connect the T (Live Trigger) terminal which comes from the light switch. It is very likely that existing and new installations will use 3 core cable which have colours: brown, grey and black. A good practice is to use those wires as follows putting a bit of electrician tape on it for future reference to state purpose:Module connections:L - Permanent Live - core brownN - Neutral - core grey (tape it blue)T - Live trigger - core black (tape it brown)If you don’t want to use a timer or humidity function, and just use the light switch, you can have core black going to L.If you don’t want to use the timer (which needs T) - don’t connect T. If you don’t want to use the pull cord I found it can be rolled-up and taped inside the unit. Note that the pull cord is electronic, not a mechanical switch, and is only used to turn the fan ON. Repeated pulling of it resets the timer to start again. If you turn the timer to its minimum setting, that was about 2 minutes in my test. I had no need for the pull cord as I have an isolation switch outside my bathroom which is easier to access. In the rare situation when you want to disable the fan - perhaps you are having a bath listening to music - that isolation switch can be used.I am using the module as humidity detection only and I have not changed the factory set dial. It comes-on three minutes into a shower. If you connect T you get the fan on with the lights every time but the humidity detector will keep it on until steam level drops. I don’t see the point of that mode myself. If you are pondering which module function to use - I would say that when using the toilet at night without turning on the fan, and potentially disturbing others, this is a really good feature of the humidity detector.

Just what I wanted!

Was using a standard on/off modulator before and found it a bit annoying. This is exactly what I wanted, the fan comes on at low speed when the light is turned on then high speed when the humidity is higher. I had no problems finding the perfect level, not sure why other people have had problems. It will also stay on the higher setting when the humidity is high and the light is switched off so you can just leave it to clear the air knowing it will turn off when the humidity has dropped again. And fairly straightforward to fit.Great product, working perfectly so far

Good quality but Tricky to get it adjusted right

I’ve had mixed feelings about this . But I’m liking it at the moment . Firstly these modules fit easily into your icon fan. I’ve had mine wired to come on with the light . But thanks to this module it will also come on if it senses a pre set level of humidity . When placing your fan and adjusting the sensor you need to consider a few things . If you want this to trigger easily it is better to have it close to the shower . Ideally above it . That way you can set the humidistat sensitivity to trigger less easily . Mine is high on wall near the shower but the other side of a shower door (that’s open at the top but above fan height) so I had to adjust a few times to find a setting that works . If you set this to be too sensitive the fan may stay running for hours on humid days . If you set it to trigger at higher humidity it may not come on when you have a shower . I was at the point of giving up with mine . But it’s working perfectly at the moment . I’ve forgotten to switch it on a few times lately (by flicking light on and off) and the humidistat has kicked the fan in . I would imagine this would be good in a Tenants bathroom and may help to avoid the usual complaint of mould that tenants have because they won’t open windows or trigger fans. Ok I’ll try to take a photo . By the way you adjust the little screw thing with a provided tool but you only need to move it a fraction for each time you adjust . Be prepared for this process of adjusting and testing to take some time . Or better still do it over time as you use shower naturally and see how it’s working

The solution if you've installed smart bulbs

I installed a smart bulb in my bathroom, which meant wiring the light switch to be permanently "on". This meant the extractor fan (an Icon 15) was permanently on as well. If you're looking at this product page for the same reason, then here's what you need to know...If you have a typical installation where the extractor fan has both a permanent live and a switched live from the lightswitch, then this replacement module will work fine and will fix the problem. You simply don't connect the switched live (so only the L and N connectors are used, and nothing is connected to the T connector). It will then come on very happily via the PIR when you enter the bathroom, and it will stay on until BOTH the timer has run out and the humidity drops below the set level.Obviously you should only be doing this yourself if you are competent, know how to make absolutely sure the power to the extractor fan is off (turning off the light switch is not enough!), and so on. But if you would be confident replacing a light switch or electrical socket, then you'll have no problems here. You just disconnect the wires, make the redundant switched live safe, swap the modules, and reconnect the remaining wires to the same positions. It's kinda expensive for what it is, but less expensive than replacing the whole extractor fan!

Fits all ICON fans

This module is easy to install and interchangeable across all Airflow ICON extractor fans, so is convenient and reasonable value.
