Hi Mike I'm not sure,as I have never tried the 85mm f/1.8 version.All the reviews of the 1.8 say that it is as good as the 1.4 for less money.I bought the Nikon 85mm f/1.4 for its low light capability,as I do not use a flash and it works great on my D810.If weight is a problem, It weighs 20.8 ozshaving said that it is a great lens, if I had the choice again I would still buy the 85mm f/1.4,,,,, good luck bobhitch

Yes it is. Nikon D3200 has a DX sensor, so if you really want to be shooting at 85mm, get the DX version of the 85mm lens, unless you tell me that you want to buy this FX 85mm coz you want to be shooting at 127mm (due to the 1.5 magnification factor for DX sensor)
