It's all about the blade.
Having just sharpened a friends pair of secateurs, I had done some online research in case they needed replacing. I repair and refurbish quite a lot of tools and, also as a senior member of a woodland volunteer team, use and recommend various hand tools for our use. With cutting tools its all about the blade. If that's not good then no other feature of the tool can improve on this failing. I have come across a Japanese SK5 blade before in some Draper Expert Gear Action Bypass Loppers we use and it has stood up very well to constant challenging use. I had to return other similar design loppers I tried from another well known brand because the cutting blade was rolling its edge and quickly became ineffective.I can find little to criticise about the Gruntek Silvercut Profi Bypass Secateur in my initial assessment. It is well designed with no plastic parts, comfortable in my Size 9 (Large Male Glove size) hands and should on first appearance last a long time. The sliding locking catch is a little stiff but will probably ease in use. I prefer this to catches which get in the way or are loose. It is not the cheapest secateur available but at around £16 I think it is good value and compares well with far more expensive models I have come across.

GRÜNTEK SILVERCUT
These are a replacement for my old ByPass Secateurs which the plastic handle broke after 10 years of hasrd service.I decided to go for GRÜNTEK SILVERCUT as they are metal lightweight and of German construction. They do the job, I have used them already to prune the Wisteria and it dealt with some thicker branches quite well the tasks ahead in the garden over the coming year will see how well they will perform. So far they are more than up to the job.

Cut away
Excellent and strong pair of secateurs. Really good to use. Perfect for large hands and really sharp too. I would recommend using garden gloves with them as they don't have any grips on the handles and you may find your hand tiring from using them. Apart from that, good value for money.

Great, solid and sharp secateurs
So glad that I decided to get these fantastic secateurs. Easy to grip, nice safety catch, perfectly weighted and balanced in the hand, and most importantly, razor sharp. They even include a spare spring, but I don't think I will need to use it for a very long time given how well designed and produced these secateurs are. On the back of the product card is a handy guide to successful pruning. Vorsprung durch Technik, alles einwandfrei!

Don’t read if your squeamish .....!
Bought these to euthenase chickens that are elderly by cutting through the spinal cord in the neck. Work perfectly. Most humane method I know.

Sharp, well made, good value
These are excellent secateurs and can cope with green wood up to about 1cm with easy. Comfortable, but thumb aches after 30 minutes continuous hard use. Very sharp and good value. Well made with good safety lock. Recommended.

sturdy and effective secateurs
The secateurs arrived quickly and i find that they are a good weight and strong enough for a decent cut when pruning through hard wood. They are not the cheapest to buy but i think they are well made and offer value for money.
