Good quality protection from the sun
This umbrella was similar in features and quality to my other Windbrellas that I own.It has a large sun blocking canopy and handles the wind well. It has a safety button on the connecting rod to avoid it from pulling out like my Windbrellas but the handle that was supposed to click down and apply pressure was engineered a little too tight so it does not stay down properly. I am hoping it will fit better over time. It is quite a bit less than the Windbrella so I am happy with its overall quality for the money.I saved.

Not a Windbrella
I live in Hawaii and spend every weekend at the beach with strong tradewinds. I had threee genuine windbrellas which after 6 years of heavy use (e.g. 100 times a year) had finally failed. I thought this was the same product, but not even close. The carry case is too small and tight and ripped as soon as it was used, the poles are thinner and bend in deep sand, and the design is not as strong, one fiberglass rib has already snapped. They will be going back!

Sand Magnet
I was so excited when I saw this umbrella with the vented top. I didn't even mind the $80 after shipping and handling. I liked the light-weight 4lbs and the carrying case. However - after having attempted to use it, I'm wishing I could return it. The umbrella's ouside material works like a sand magnet. Sand is just drawn to it and won't come off no matter how hard you try to brush it off. This happens with the carrying case as well. Secondly, I was unaware that this unbrella would also require an umbrella anchor - thus voiding the convenience of a 4lb umbrella in handy carrying case. Now I have to carry two things for umbrella set-up. Not convenient at all. If you are searching for a beach umbrella - I highly recommend finding one where the lower portion has it's own twist anchor and do NOT use this Water Resistant outside shell. It's a sandy disaster.

By Whose Ruler?
This is not a "6 ft." umbrella, unless you're a creative measurer. Side to side it measures just 5', or 5' 6" if you measure along the umbrella's arc, or 6' if you measure the arc and include the 3" (x2) dangly fringe around the perimeter, but regardless you mostly get 5' of shade. I only tried it breifly so cannot comment extensively but: it is very light weight which is fine for toting around but perhaps not so great for strength; construction seemed adequate with regard to stitching, material, & frame; the pole sections snap (button) and pressure (lever) lock together but the snap/lock section fits inside the adjacent piece so the overall height of the umbrella cannot be varied (½ height or full height only); the tilt feature helps and somewhat makes up for the lack of height adjustment in positioning your shade. Returning this one for the "8 ft." model to see if it offers the coverage I was looking for.

Great Beach Umbrella!
I frequent a Massachusetts State Beach (Horseneck Beach) which is typically very windy. After ruining several beach umbrellas which just turned inside out from the wind, I did some research and found the Solar Beach Umbrella, which is wind resistant. I recently brought my Solar Beach Umbrella to Horseneck Beach (Westport, MA) on a particularly windy day. After being there for a couple of hours, I realized there were only a couple of umbrellas that were still up on the beach, and mine was one of them. I do also have a sand grabber, which I believe contributes to the wind resistance. Also, this umbrella will protect you from getting a sunburn. This is a great beach umbrella and well worth the price. It's also easy to find because it's bright silver. Now I don't have to leave the beach anymore because of high winds.

Works well
This umbrella worked really well, of course, I would highly recommend using an anchor (sold separately). The claims that it makes it 15 or so degrees cooler seem a bit exaggerated, but I would recommend to others.

bad design breaks easily
Doesn't stand even average winds. I barely used it maybe 2 or 3 times and it broke. Not recommended

The umbrella seems fine although we have not used it as of yet
The umbrella seems fine although we have not used it as of yet. The stitching on the wrap around velcro strap is poorly secured and the stitches are unraveling. This is out of the box on Christmas day.
