Excellent office & home phone.
Things I like:> This is a neat looking phone, small enough to sit by my keyboard> Good heavy base - doesn't move when you take the handset out and looks great> Easy to connect to my Mac through the mini USB cable> Comfortable to use, lightweight but solid feeling> Are able to put contacts in large font> Able to transfer all my contacts from my Mac contacts app to the phone by drag and drop.> Then able to transfer these contact to all my other more basic Gigaset c430 handsets - REAL plus, making these much much more functional> Also able to add any ringtone melody I want through the Mac connection> Having the answer phone integral to the handset again radically reduces the footprint> I considered the smartphone like 910a but preferred the physical buttons of the 450 (in the 'dial 1 for... scenario) and also read a review where someone had found that the 910 touchscreen tended to fail.> The basic screen saver clock and date are a useful bonus.Things I'm not so sure about>I found the bluetooth connection to my Mac really flaky - haven't tried it with a headset. Thank goodness it had a mini usb port> I'm not interested in the VOIP technology> The calendar and weather are really of limited value.> Certainly with Mac the transfer of contacts does not include the picture but you can add these in manually.> It is solid feeling and the very thin metal bezel is a nice touch but they have obviously made a massive saving by moving from the all aluminium silver version of this phone without a comparable drop in price. Having said that I probably prefer the lightness of the plastic of the aluminium and with no rattles I think it should last a good long time.Overall very happy with this handset and it has breathed new life into my other Giga set handsets.

Brilliant link to hearing aids
I'm too old to have fancy bluetooth headsets, but this phone also uses bluetooth to link to my hearing aids. It is not entirely reliable, in that it doesn't always make the connection, but when it does, I can hear loud and clear. Without that link, I can't hear enough to make phone calls at all, so it is great improvement! The symbols and controls are not easy to use and I cannot make the volume control save at the highest level, no matter how many times I press 'save'.

Excellent phone.
Had an SL400 set but after perhaps ten years, the Base Station stopped working. Since I don't use the land line that much anymore, I got a relatively cheap set of BT wireless phones. Unfortunately, the audio quality was dreadful; had to return them. Then I bought a single SL450 GO with its Base Station. My old SL400 handsets also register with the new one and the audio quality is as good as ever. The build quality of the SL450 is perhaps not as solid as that of the old SL400 but it's still good. Over all, I'm very happy with the SL450 as a way forward from the old SL400.

Keep it simple
Primarily use this for VOIP usage. Keep it simple and it will be simple. There is a lot of facilities and features but the more you use the more sophisticated it becomes. It is small and neat so may not suit the ‘older’ user.

If you want a mobile phone experience at home on your home line, this is the package
Like many, I am working at home, but have awful mobile reception, so what to do. Tried the mobile to phone from BT and Panasonic, which uses Bluetooth, but crap. I now just divert my mobile to my home land line, a land line which I never used - I had to look up the number! All calls crystal clear. I also make calls out, which while not ideal, is ok, as I never used the land lien for personal calls anyway. Luckily I am on an unlimited calling plan with Sky, so all in! This phone is robust, not plasticky and I am sure will last.

New for an Old!
This is a replacement for my old Gigaset units which stopped being good 10+ years after buying them. The SL450A is the nearest 'current' model i could get. It's good but not built to the same high standards as the old ones. The materials are cheaper basically. Don't get me wrong, it's a good phone with good sound on the whole and a few modern software/firmware tricks that i like. It's quite a small phone though. The main reason i bought it is for the base station so i don't have leads everywhere etc. All in all it's a good phone.

Don't bother if you need reliable bluetooth
I purchased this phone to replace an old Gigaset SL400 which has worked perfectly for 8 years until I dropped it !! I assumed that this new phone would be as good as my old phone, but it isn't. I work from home and use a Bluetooth headset for 4-6 hours per day and with the old phone the Bluetooth range allowed me to wander around my office without any problems. This new phone is rubbish, the bluetooth range is less than 1 metre, walk 2 metres away and the connection drops completely. Even when sat next to the phone any arm movements or a turn of the head induces clipping and voice distortion.I've sent it back for a refund. Very disappointed as all Gigasets I've owned previously have all been 5 stars.

Good but not great for the cost!
Lovely looking phones, but they should be for the price. Can be complicated to set up. Useful ability to access mobile phone contacts with the app, after the base is hard-wired to router. My main issue was the call quality when I was away from the base station; breaking up of conversation when in my bedroom, and I only live in a three bedroom bungalow!Returned.
