Heating proseeder is difficult.

Unit says 14-10awg.I used this on 12/2 w/ ground, 12awg UF Romex and the large outer heat shrink did not shrink small enough to cover the outside Romex UF cable.The smaller heat shrink, instructions, and metal crimps all worked great.

This splicer is comprised of three aluminum crimp connectors with water-tight shrink tubing for three wire connection, excluding ground or basic two-wire if you include ground. The quality of the crimp is excellent and hold strong. The water-proof jackets are unique in that instead of being simple heat-shrink tubing, they actually have an inner low-temperature thermoplastic core that melts and creates a totally sealed water tight seal. I used a propane torch because they require some heat to properly set. You won't be doing it with a bic lighter and I doubt even a grill lighter is stout enough. The only reason why I gave it 4 out of 5 is because it also includes an outer conventional heat-shrink jacket to encapsulate everything before you bury your work. That jacket is stout but oversized for a classic 2 or 3 wire buried power wire. I couldn't get it to collapse fully and trying hard only caused it to catch fire. So I just shrunk it as far as I could and taped the ends off with electrical tape. Bottom line is, if you clean your wires, crimp solidly and use proper heat, this splicer is fantastic and there is no way it is coming loose or letting water in. I suspect the other reviews that said otherwise went light on the heat and didn't properly set the heat-shrink gel. If you do it right, you will see it oozing out of the ends. Don't touch it. It's damn hot.

Nice product but takes a little practice and best used with a heat gun vice torch for the inexperienced.

My husband said this worked great for installing the wire underground to our front porch lights. We won’t have to worry about the wires getting wet anymore!

inner seal worked well. Outer shrink tube was to big for 14-3 wire.Made it work by using electricle tape to seal outer shrink tube.

I really didn't want to have to run a whole new power cable from my garage to the house after a backhoe pulled i up (oops). This kit had everything necessary to get the job done. My only suggestion is that you use a heatgun rather than a blowtorch to get things melted.
