Works just like I would expect it to.
I have been using this electric teapot for a while now, and it is still working like it should. Heating up water takes about the same amount of time as in a microwave for the same volume, but it is nicer because you can select the temperature setting. I love the lowest setting for Hot Chocolate, as you can drink it without scalding your mouth. I also use it for preheating water for making additional individual packets of ramen while waiting the 3 minutes for the pan on the stove. It cleans up very nicely and I feel it is a good value for the price.

Don’t buy another Kettle this one is PERFECT!!
I have used two other electric kettle that were glass and just boiled, I broke them both!! I said enough, I was looking for steel! I can also take this one when I travel and it won’t break!! Are you kidding at this price don’t pass this up! Settings for the type of tea your brewing, French press setting! I French press and love this. My husband and I will carry it with the steel French press we use if we travel. Perfect for hotel rooms!!! We put it in a backpack with our press coffee and teas! I only drink coffee or tea (iced or hot) I can make any tea or coffee I like with this kettle and anywhere I have water and power! This electric kettle has been a life changer. I use it several times a day and I have had it about 6 months!! It pours great no drips! It has a little screen inside to catch any particles in the water. You can’t really clean it in a traditional way. There is a temperature sensor in the bottom that you need to be careful with if wipeing it out. Your hand don’t really fit in it but again that is NOT the way you clean it. You use cream of tartar to clean it as the directions say. Wipe the outside with a damp cloth. I clean it with cream of tartar when some deposits on the bottom build up some. So easy it is clean and it’s clean as brand new. Only water goes in it and it boils so it don’t get that dirty! The last time I use it at night I shake it a bit when I pour out the last bit of water in the sink and leave the lid open while it’s still hot and it will dry. Again it’s in use all the time around here so it’s always wet inside. When we are making teas and hot chocolate with the kids or visitors you can keep the water warm with the keep warm feature and not have to wait each time for hot water. If you use it and your not going to for a little while always pour all the water out. On cold days it may have hot water in it most of the day. If I make coffee I empty the bottom of the water into the sink because I won’t be using it for a little while. If your making one or two cups of tea only put as much water as you need so it heats faster! The water gauge on the side makes that brainless even at 5 am lol! Also makes instant oatmeal, Mac and cheese and cup noodles. This kettle was life changing for me! It’s so easy to use. It keeps up with my needs, it portable I don’t have to use the stove and it’s not so delicate. I do take care not to get the controls or bottom wet that has to happen or you will mess it up! Follow the directions it has good directions. I have had a lot of good luck with Hamilton Beach products! Does exactly what the higher end brand does for a better price! If something happens to this one as long as they make them I will keep buying them! I love this kettle!! I think it would be amazing in an office, a dorm or any other place you don’t have a stove. If I had this when I worked I would have had one in my office along with a steel French press and variety of teas for sure!! Look no further you have found a true 5 star electric kettle!! I don’t give out 5 stars unless it’s perfect and this Hamilton Beach electric kettle has zero cons for me! Purchase this one!! You won’t be sorry!!

Hot water - works great!
Works great. Might sound weird considering it heats water...but it is quick, quiet and the temp selection is a nice feature.

Great quality. Buttons could be improved.
This is a great teapot with many features - Stainless, has a level window, and is programmable. A few things that could improve - it takes a while to heat the water, and it does not indicate it is heating. You only know when the water starts simmering, and that can take about 4 minutes when the pot is full. To boil a full pot, it can take about 7 minutes. If you don't have a full pot, it's ok because it's quicker. The other thing, that is a constant nuisance - the buttons are short travel & high effort. Not what you want. You need to deliberately press them, while holding the pot so as not to spill it. They feel like quality, but the action is less than premium.

Failed after 15-20 uses
It worked well enough for a bit over 1 year, but then it stopped working. It will light up when I press the buttons for various heat settings, but not heat anything. The only setting that still starts heating is the "boil black" button, but that will start heating for only a few seconds before automatically shutting off while the water is cold. I tried following the troubleshooting steps from Amazon, but the problem continued. I'm thinking it must be a board failure, since only one of the settings works (though only for a moment).I contacted Hamilton Beach customer service, but they said the warranty is only for a year. At that point I had it for 1 year and 5 months, but I hardly used it in the summer and only occasionally in the winter. I probably only got 15-20 uses out of it total (almost never used more than once a week, sometimes went weeks without using). I bought it for around $40 on sale, so I essentially paid $2+ per time to heat up water, which is absolutely ridiculous. Guess I'll have to go back to old fashioned way of heating water.

Perfection
This tea kettle is absolutely beautiful and useful. Easy to use, heats in less time than any other I have ever owned, has capability to keep water warm for second cup (or even third cup), ability to select proper temperature based on type of tea being brewed is first rate, takes up minimal space on my counter, entirely metal. In addition, I use it for any other need for hot water such as cooking pasta, boiling eggs, hot water for cleaning appliances (such as cpap lines). Built exceptionally well.
