Oryx Portasol Technic Gas Soldering Iron

Well I have tried a number of low budget gas solder irons, and one or two have been ok, they did the job.However, this little beast knocks them out of the park. Yes I know it's three times the cost, but it just solders effortlessly.It gets up to temp pretty quick and on a nice and cold, windy, wet day in the garage it performed so neatly,with no blobs of solder.As it doesn't have a naked flame, this didn't go out, which is a bonus. It's so easy to use due to the size if it (white board marker).My next use for it is plastiwelding.I would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone.

although the colour was different it works well... although I have noticed it doesn't like turning off when its going flat out and being held at an angle, but that's probably because I shouldn't be running it flat out

Soldering,have purchased several of these over the years,and they have remained reliable and trustworthy.also like the fact you can still get replacement tips and that the design has remained the same.

Not the same colour as the original but works fine. 2.5mm tip supplied. Original Portasol was used in field tv service work, this one looks to outlast me!

Nowhere near as good as a Blue Point one that I bought 20 years ago.
