Hansgroheceramic shut-off unit

We have an Axor Starck kithen mixer tap circa 2002! The tap is fabulous quality and still like new however required a new cartridge. This cartidge is a different size to the original cartridge but hidden in the box is a plastic adapter which the cartidge sits in and makes for a perfect fit. So anyone out there with an ols Axor Starck tap, yes this cartidge does fit and works perfectly.

Very pleased with this purchase. Great value for money at £23! I took a chance on this because the numbers on my old cartridge had corroded but this looked near enough the one I needed. So pleased to report it fitted perfectly. It looks like brass/metal and came in a Hansgrohe box with diagram instructions. But once you know how to remove your old one, you should be ok without the instructions. The only tricky part I found was at first the shower water wasn’t completely turning off. So I unscrewed the screw and removed the cap again, to expose the newly fitted cartridge. Then fiddled about with the cap and the grey plastic piece the cap fits on, to get it in the right position and it could turn fully “off”. Once the water was off I screwed the cap back on. Turned the tap on and off a few times then was satisfied I had been successful. A great feeling & saved a lot of money.

I was relieved to eventually trace this part for my bathroom tap. I later discovered it was much cheaper at Amazon than the official maker. Brilliant!

Part was perfect.... but take a tip: get a Hansgrohe trained plumber... not any old plumber... to fit it... our's was cross threaded.... So: part fine. Installation: an expensive disaster.

This is the 2nd time I've bought one of these kits. The ceramic cartridge in all taps will eventually go stiffer with calcium buildup and there's not much choice but to replace it. On the Axor Stark tap we have, it's pretty hard to get the top off - however, once you know the trick it's easier. Being 2nd time I've done it, it came off pretty quick this time. Kit is perfect replacement and works great. Tap is so smooth again, that you can operate it with your little finger if needed.

The part itself is easy to fit and of high quality, however the tool that comes with it is flimsy and easy to bend when taking out a tight cartridge
