The only rod you need
Superb rods, absolutely as good as my far more expensive rods: in fact I rarely use my Hardy and Sage rods now as I believe these Shakespeares are better. Beautiful action for both casting and playing, there is absolutely no reason to buy £750 rods when you can have these - whether you are an absolute beginner or a seasoned fly fisherman, I would recommend these, very good product as usual from an excellent company.

Terrible - Broke Immediately
Don't know if I just got a 'bad one' but my rod snapped on the very first cast about half way up.Set an email directly to Shakespeare customer service who wanted absolutely nothing to do with it.

Great back up/starter rod
Bought this rod as I wanted a cheap little rod to keep in the car/office for a couple of hours fishing after work. It’s a super little rod in 8ft 6” 5 wt for medium river work, took plenty of trout on the Mayfly today, roll cast well and punched an Airflo Platinum Chalkstream line into a headwind with a double haul and turned over a bulky Dry Mayfly with ease. Pleasantly surprised, not far off the Sage I’d normally take out. Ok, there’s a bit more filler in the cork and it’s an ounce or two heavier, but for the money as a back up or starter rod, superb.

Excellent rod at a great price - why pay more?
You don't have to pay thro the nose, this is an excellent rod and at this price you can't go wrong, it does the very same job as expensive rods that I have used. And remember. A fool and his money.......

Great for a youngster/ novice
Bought for my 9 year old grandson. Matched to a #5 line to help him learn to cast. At this price point it is a steal for the younger/ novice fly fisherman.
