I bought these as a cheap expendable alternative to my Oakley Prizm sunglasses for times when I didn't want to risk losing the Oakleys. First thing I noticed was that the optical clarity was good on the first pair I bought but there was a thin reflective sun flare anytime I looked within 40-50 of sun direction (lens was clean). Bought a 2nd pair that didn't have that problem but the blue lens tint finish was noticeably different than the 1st. That tells me that there's some quality control issues with the lens. Moving on, I got to use these on a trip to Belize where I used them on the boat during a snorkeling tour. The ear stems securely fit these glasses to the face and there's almost no danger of them flying off. However, I have a small to medium size head and they do start to feel like a vice on the sides of thread after 2-3 hours. I think the problem is the inward curve on the back portion of the ear stems. Definitely don't have that problem on the Oakleys. I also compared them to my Oakley Prizm glasses in shallow water and the Oakleys are clearly better for making out coral, sea grass and marine life in the water but the Islanders aren't bad either, especially for the price. Overall I like the style and function of these shades, but they are fatiguing on head after awhile. I'd recommend steering clear of these sunglasses for large heads.

Great glasses, I've been buying these glasses for years. I'm pretty rough on glasses so after breaking or losing too many pairs of expensive glasses I decided to switch to Calcutta. They hold up great, I've never actually broken a pair but once lenses get scratched I can't stand it and have to replace. A lot easier to replace these for $25 then Costas for $200

Purchased these in July of 2018 and after a couple of weeks, the coating on the lenses began to flake off. Can even scratch it off with my fingernail. I've reached out to Calcutta for warranty replacement and I will update this review with their response/actions.

work great, comfortable, polorized and the ladys love em. I have bought 10 plus pair, when I drink beer i give them away as gifts to strangers to improve their lives! Best sunglasses a pirate could buy! I would give 5 stars but the coating on the utside of the lenses scratches easly when salt water hits them and you touch the lense. So just rinse them off with fresh water before you touvh the lense.

Excellent glasses. I have had two pairs of Calcutta sunglasses. When my wife needed a new pair of glasses she tried mine on, found them very comfortable, and ordered a women's style.They arrived in a timely manner, fit well, and are effective in the sun.A point to note. Because of the style we had to buy an extra large sunglasses case to house them. No problem.

Looks great and the polarized lens are as expected from this brand. Only negative is that they are a little tight and after a couple of hours I get a head ache. My head size is not that large and I wear 7 1/8 size caps

The glasses a sweet! They fit great and they are of great quality. They are indeed polarized and really reduce the glare. My ONLY negative about them is that the calcutta imprinted on the lens is capable of being scratched off just by a light scrape of the nail. If you want that to stay on keep them away from things that can possibly rub agains the letters. The shipping wasn't terrible but could have arrived a day sooner. Going to get my sister a pair and maybe another for myself again later on as back ups.

I love these shades. I've had 2 pairs prior and will continue to buy them as needed. They fit PERFECTLY. Only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was because they are a littke stiff to open up and close, which wasn't as issue with the other pairs I've bought from the local surf shops. But sure does beat paying $50! Worthy investment!
