I have had excellent results with this cleaning liquid, using the following method:1) after shaving, remove the foil-and-cutter cassette and tap it out2) using a shaver brush, clean the inner areas of the pivoting head and the cassette. Avoid brushing the foil as this may damage it.3) re-attach the cassette and place the shaver into the cleaning station4) run the cleaning cycle5) take the shaver out of the cleaning station and detach the cassette to allow it to dryI have an older series 7 shaver. A single shave will normally result in the shaver losing 2 "hygiene" dots, and result in a "normal" cleaning cycle which lasts 32 minutes. Additional 4 minutes to complete charging the battery back to full.Using this method, one cleaning cartridge (filled with 170ml of cleaning liquid as per the original) will last for 29 cleaning cycles.The 5 litre bottle provided liquid for 29 cartridge refills and lasted 2 years and 4 months (shaving and cleaning daily). 29 original Braun cleaning cartridges would cost around £220, which is roughly 13 times more than this bottle at its current price of £17. Not to mention the environmental impact of all the discarded plastic.The scent of this product is very similar to the scent of the liquid present in the original Braun cleaning cartridge, and - contrary to what is written in some of the other reviews here - does contain some alcohol. However I can confirm that it evaporates less well than the original liquid. So it possibly has a somewhat lower alcohol content.Nonetheless, this is an excellent product, and a viable alternative to endlessly purchasing original cleaning cartridges. Happy to recommend.

There's no doubting the value for money, as the branded cartridges are dear. However, the cartridges have a high alcohol content and evaporate, leaving the shaver dry - this product appears to have a high water content and leaves the shaver dripping wet. I suspect it doesn't lubricate as well as the cartridge, if at all, so I'm wondering if it's good value in the long term..

The original Braun disposable cleaning cartridges work well but deplete all too quickly. This fluid is a great item to top a cartridge up when it gets too low. After a couple of topups you can always wash out the used cartridge completely and refresh it fully. This replacement fluid looks, smells and works just like the original fluid, but is much more economic and eco-friendly. The 5 litres will last for years!

I have been using this for a few months now and this is not a substitute for the normal alcohol-based cleaner. This is mainly water which give the following problems:1. In the Braun cleaner, filling the cartridge to the top level will cause the fluid to spill. Half-filling the cartridge will prevent this.2. Because the fluid is water rather than alcohol, the shaver does not dry out between shaves so you have to shave with a damp shaver. (It take at least 48 hours for the shaver to dry).3. If you leave the fluid a long time in the cleaning station (e.g. 1 month), it develops a musty smell.4. The fluid is not as effective at cleaning as the normal alcohol-based fluid, so you will have to manually clean the shaver from time to time.I will be disposing of this and returning to the normal alcohol-based fluid.I

My new series 9 Braun shaver’s cleaning station red lighted in just two weeks. The cartridge was still 1/2 full. This product looks the same, smells the same and does the job at a fraction of the cost of a Braun Cleaning Cartridge.You just need a small jug and a steady hand to transfer this liquid to the cartridge. Perhaps the evaporation of the alcohol in the heat of summer is the issue? There’s a high concentration of ‘Biterex’ to stop you drinking it.? It leaves the razor head with a vile residue…don’t shave the mouth area until last seems to work….

This is the perfect solution for refilling expensive plastic cartridges for cleaning shaver heads. It does the job just as well, reduces plastic waste and thereby helps the environment. A really good product at a fantastic price.

Good value, but, for me a total waste of money and time. Make sure your shaver washing device will work. Consequently I cannot comment on the efficacy of this product.

Looked like a great idea to save a lot of money and of course plastic, but as others have said there is a lot of water in the product, so the shaver and cutters remain wet despite being in the cleaning attachment with its fan dryer. So you have to shake out the liquid and dry them on a towel before use. Also not entirely sure whether it cleans very well.
