Amazingly great piece of kit
I dont usually write product reviews, but after reading comments left by other people who have purchased this item I decided it need a bit of a plug. Probably the best item I have bought for a while, fits in my air vent like a dream. Holds my TomTom device securely with no shake, unlike the original cradle which was window suction mount. So easy to reach, so easy to dismount, not had to re seat it, adjust or tighten it at all & it has now been in my vehicle for a month. I travel well in excess of 2000 miles per week & it's just perfect. Pity TomTom dont give you the option of which mount you would prefer when purchasing a new device. I would say to all the negative remarks, your probably not doing something right when fitting for the first time. For me it's well worth the 5 stars all round.

Good product. Make sure it's tight.
Had this product a week or two and it fits my Tom Tom go 5000. Make sure you use a Tom Tom USB cable to charge the Tom Tom. It is a clever design and you turn the wheel to tighten the claws to fit on to air vent. Have a ford, so air vent is not the best. You need to secure the air vent in one place otherwise the Tom Tom start flapping around. Ford design issue not the product. Once tightened on to air vent it does occasionally come off with Tom Tom but you need to flip Tom tom forwards to take it off instead of pull it up and off. You get use to it.Overall a good product that does the job.

Handy little device
This bracket does not use suction but a pair of arms to clamp onto a ventilation grille. As such it works very well. I found that the angle adjustment ball needed greasing or it was too stiff to move. When the sat nav is in place its own strong fixing magnet makes it slightly difficult to remove without straining the clamp or the ventilation vane. However with practice it can be done without any undue strain.Overall I am glad I have got it, rather expensive I thought, but it answers the problem.

Three Stars
A little fiddly to fit in grill hence 3 stars. The unit itself is okay!

Great solution; just too expensive
Great solution that means you don't have to have the sat nav blocking the windscreen. It also means it's much easier to access. It may just be the vents on my car but it can take a bit of tweeking to get it to fit so it doesn't wobble. However, once you get used to that, it's not too hard. It's worth pointing out that there is a small "leg" that folds out at the base to act as a prop to stabilize the mount. If you get this bit set right, it makes a big difference. My only issue is the price which I think is far too high. Considering the cost of the original sat nav, I feel TomTom should give you a choice of which mount to purchase when you buy the sat nav. It feels like you're forced to buy a mount that you don't want and then have to spend more money to get the one that you wanted all along.

It works
It holds the tomtom in the required position and it stays in place. This may sound unremarkable but having tried alternatives, before this, I can assure you it isn't.

Does Not Fit the 6200 model
Typical Tomtom quality, fits nicely in my air vents without worrying about it causing damage. Pricey but worth it if you don't want the sat nav stuck to the windscreen, recommended and bought for a 6inch Tomtom sat nav.Update - This vent mount does not fit the 6200 model, shame as it fitted nicely on my air vent, being returned. Not sure why the two are being advertised together, bit mis-leading...

Allows for better positioning of sat nav
I bought this for my TomTom 6100 because when I used the standard mount the sat nav obscured part of my windscreen. I am fairly pleased with it, although occasionally it does seem to work loose on the vent fins and cause my sat nav to swing to the side (though not fall off). I am going to try a little piece of non slip webbing between the grips, hopefully that will prevent it from happening again.
