I highly recommend David Busch's books for getting the most out of your camera gear.
Whenever I get a new model of camera body, I get one of David Busch's books for it. He really digs in and goes way beyond the info offered by the factory manuals. He gives you all sorts of insight and tips that help you get the most out of your camera. I've also gotten his books for some of the more advanced flashes, and have been very happy with those, also.

Good guide on Canon Speedlites
I own each of the books that David Busch has written on the Canon cameras I own, Canon 5D MkII, Canon 7D, and Canon G10, and find both the camera information in great detail and the techniques described to very useful. The book on Canon Speedlites contains a lot of information on most of the Canon Speedlites and some information on just about all the Canon Speedlites. And if you are trying to decide which Speedlite you need or information about a Speedlite you already own then you will like this book.I already own my Speedlites and was looking to find very detailed techniques on using the flash, the gear needed to set up and use the equipment along with the how's and why's off support equipment, other than the flash units, needed for speedliting.

Helped me from the start
I have had a Canon 5D Mark II for around 2 years. I have had Canon's for many years and took a course in College on Photography as well. I understand the principles of good photography. That being said this book is awesome !!!!!!In the first few chapters I have already REALLY learned my camera and its benefits to a much greater degree. It is written in very clear and concise language. Illustrated with COLOR pictures explaining and reinforcing the various topics.Weather you are a serious camera buff, an intermediate and especially a novice this book is for you.

Generally good content. As I have several of his other books, there was significant overlap between this book and parts of the others. Also, while all the different Canon flash units logically had to be included, the details on units you may not own take up a lot of the book. My 320 EX is a lot less complicated than the fancier, more powerful ones and consequently got less coverage.

Paper back 5 stars, Kindle 1 star
I bought the paper back version of this book and when Amazon offered me the Kindle version for 2.99 (matchbook price) I bought that too. The paperback version is an excellent reference book, well written and the complete table of contents and index make it fast to find what you are looking for. The Kindle version has a good Table of Contents but the index has no references or links or page numbers which make is useless in my eyes. Frustrating to know the information is there but no way to find it! I'm glad I only paid 2.99 and don't even know if it's worth that.

David Busch's Guide To Flash Photograpy
I'm fairly new to digital photography. I was looking for a guide to flash photography that was easy to understand, and that would have a chapter on the Canon 600EX-RT flash and Canon ST-E3-RT transmitter. I bought a similar Canon flash guide written by a different author and found the guide written by David Busch and Ed Verosky to be more comprehensible although both are very good guides...

Pretty good, goes through some basic flash principles before going into details of each Speedlight. Much easier to understand than the instruction manual.
