Rechargeable battery pack for my Pure Radio PAK E1
I purchased this rechargeable battery pack for my Pure radio, it's a must if you want the mobility of the radio around the house or garden, easy to fit, performs well, no real additional weight to carry around. I haven't tested how long the battery lasts before it runs flat but I do run it regularly on battery only. When using the battery only you do loose the option of using the alarm on my particular radio when you turn it off, as it saves the battery life and does not run on sleep mode.JR

ChargePak E1 with Evoke 2S
Bought this to go with a Pure Evoke 2S as a Christmas present this year. Generally delighted with it apart from the BUT...Easy to fit and gives fantastic endurance. It seems to give about 24 hours life. The only drawback is the BUT...The BUT is that it seems to need 24 hours charging from flat every time, not just from new which is a bit disappointing. The Pure One we had before seemed relatively much quicker, so you need to think of using the radio while connected to the mains as much as possible or when not in use. Fine if it used mainly in a stationary situation like a bedside radio with only occasional use as a portable, but I bought the combination to use mainly as a portable, hence only 4 stars. The radio itself can tell you the level of charge so you can plan ahead. But there is a BUT to the BUT...Unfortunately the radio does have a fault and Pure are replacing it for me no problem, so it is possible (but unlikely) that the fault includes the drawback of slow charging.

Oh why did I wait so long.....
This is an item I have waited a long time for, but nobody seemed to make me happy buying it for me at Christmas or as a Birthday present. I decided to go and get it myself just as the Summer holidays started and I knew I would be working outdoors loads and wanting to never miss a moment of the olympics. With my battery bought I could finally take my digital radio outdoors and enjoy my radio all day. This is an expensive expense and made me thing hard about buying it to justify the cost in relationship to the price of a digital radio, but having it makes me satisfied that I am maximising use of the radio; so in effect it was justified. Highly recommended, but get a few people to pool in and buy it for you for Christmas.

Excellent, but too expensive
Shocked at the price, after a quick search, I managed to get a small discount on the expensive Pure Evoke ChargePAK battery from an independent supplier. It arrived very quickly and works perfectly. My real gripe is with the manufacturer of the radio who sell a DAB portable radio at around £100 and then compel the purchaser to buy a special battery for over £30 before their portable and mains radio can be used for one of its two main purposes - as a portable! The radio should have been sold complete with battery!

Battery for radio unit.
Does just what it says on the tin its a battery and its rechargeable. It is a bit fiddly to get the plug in but other than that its ok.The only problem with the battery is if the mains power fails it does not take over, but if you unplug the mains charger it then is switched in and the radio etc works I was assumed it was battery backup when the power failed as I was going to use it in the bedroom as both a radio and an alarm clock. I will give it a try by switching off the mains power for ten minutes and then turning the power back on to see if it forgets its alarm setting. But it is a good battery power if you want to be outside but will have to wait for warmer weather to try it.

Pure ChargePAK E1
I purchased the radio to replace a wind-up radio which was used in the bathroom; I wanted DAB for convenience and sound quality, and of course battery capability was essential. I cannot speak for durability, but the battery pack works. I usually charge the battery at weekends, and it lasts the week in between, but we're not using the radio that much. I found the instructions a little puzzling; the pack has a shrink-wrapped printed plastic cover, and it was a little unclear whether this should be removed. I concluded that it should not. The pack is a bit expensive, and unfortunately cannot be used in my other Pure radio, an Evoke 3, but the 3 is a bit bulky to carry around anyway. Four stars rather than five only because of the price.

Constantly needs re-charging
Despite fully charging the battery it has never lasted for (at most) 90 minutes! I use it every morning for 15/20 mins but am having to recharge before the end of each week. Further more, the battery life symbol appears to be almost full when it suddenly ceases to work.I was away the first two weeks after receiving this item. On my return I gave the battery a few weeks to see if it was just a glitch. As a result, according to Amazon’s website, I can no longer return the item (what happened to a year’s guarantee?)I contacted Pure who agree it needs to be returned as it is clearly faulty. Sadly, having searched the page of my order I cannot find anywhere to contact the seller - hence writing this!

The battery does not last long on a full charge
As soon as the battery pack arrived I charged it up and fitted it into my radio which was quite easy. I only put the radio on for 5 to 10 minutes a day but after three days the battery needed to be charged again, the battery does not last very long. Also when the battery is fitted and you have the radio connected to the mains via the plug, the sound quality is very poor, you get some sort of interference. I have to leave it plugged into the mains as the battery does not last very long on a full charge as I have to use the radio as my alarm to wake me up in the morning.
