the prongs are close enough to clear any plant debris and it rakes up the grass nicely before mowing
This rake has saved my back no end. After spending time picking up small twigs and branches by hand before I mowed, I gave in and purchased this. It has helped clear the moss from the lawn alarmingly well, the prongs are close enough to clear any plant debris and it rakes up the grass nicely before mowing. The rake is well balance and super light to use, the handle has a good girth so it doesn't strain your hands and the soft grip covered area a nice touch. Didn't think I'd be so keen on raking but it has become quite a pleasant job. I have even used it to clear a Type 1 drive of twigs and pine cones which it also did very well without moving too much of the stone. It comes with a guarantee too! I will definitely look at other Spear & Jackson tools in the future, they are excellent quality and worth the investment.

My other S/J tools that I bought on Amazon were great,
This rake was way below Spear and Jackson quality! I believe it is a second. I was going to send back, but too much hassle. It was only £13 so I should not complain, it's worth the money, Just going to start using it, hope it doesn't fall to bit's. My other S/J tools that I bought on Amazon were great, Added comments 28-05-2015 The head has fell off, this the third time this has happened. I only started using itin March. I have took a picture of it, I am going to try to send it to Neil tools. I hope I get more joy than I did last time I phoned them.6-7-2015. Amazon amazing, thank you so much! I now have a new rake and very happy with it, it came today. I went on amazon chat lineexplained the situation, the guy was great. I was offered my money back or a new one. The new rake is true Spear and Jackson quality. I will change my ratings. thanks again.

Leaves stick to the tines.
Sturdy rake, but the tines are quite thick and leaves accumulate on them. My previous rake, which was telescopic, had thinner tines and the leaves just fell off them and didn't build up.

rake needed a holiday before being used
brilliant value, good product, I give this 5 stars because its worth it, HOWEVER I ordered from prime next day delivery expected, it was sentfrom west midlands to Ireland by mistake did a tour of county Antrim then went all the way back to the midlands where it realised it shouldn't be there , so it started its journey again and arrived the very next day , Only disappointed by the fact the rack didn't bother sending a post card from Ireland . Amazon are usually brilliant , I will still give 5 star review as I enjoyed following my rake on its holidays.

Hard work made easier
This replaced my cheaper lawn rake which after many years gave up when the blades came loose. Raking moss is hard work but this rake makes it a lot easier with firmly fixed blades which give consistent performance. Well designed, with very good grip on the handle it is well worth the investment.

Very Poor Quality
Very disappointed with this item. I have a lot of Spear & Jackson Select tools and they have always been of very high quality. However this rake is extremely poor. It arrived poorly packaged (Amazon had simply wrapped the head in bubble wrap and stuck an address label on it), but worst of all it seems of very low quality. The prongs bent the first time I used it to rake leaves on the lawn, and even after bending them back they carried on with each rake.I have one I bought from Poundstretcher which has lasted an entire year and is still going - I only bought this because it was nearing the end of it's life with the head starting to come loose now and needed replacing soon.If a £5 rake from Pounstretcher can last a year, then a premium one from S&J should last well beyond it's first outing.
