Excellent bedside accessory.
Very Nice design and very functional. The radio reception is excellent for both FM and DAB using its own ariel's.The Screen is very clear, displaying time and all the other information required depending on the mode. The multi function buttons are easy to use and the instruction clear, although the multi language format can be confusing. For those that don't like lights in the bedroom after dark, there is no need to worry, the screen works with ambient lighting and goes really dim in pitch black and I imagine even the most discerning amongst us would be happy with the dimmest level - which is fully automated. Not too big, but about right to give a very reasonable sound.

Great piece of kit
I unpacked the device and plugged it in, and immediately is showed the correct time and tuned itself to digital radio. Brilliant! It is a compact, unfussy unit in appearance with a clear display. I particularly like the automatic dimming of the display in response to ambient light level, and the gradual increase in alarm volume so that you're not woken too abruptly. The dual alarm settings are useful too. On the down side, I found the controls somewhat unintuitive (you use the snooze button and the volume up/down buttons to change settings), and the instruction leaflet could be better. However once you get use to the controls they are ok.

A Decent Clock Radio
Not a bad clock radio. Sound quality isn't brilliant but then I wouldn't expect that for an item like this, however it is more than good enough. Fairly easy to set up although the instructions are quite basic and I needed to retune it to pick up all the stations and this is not covered on the sparse instructions.I quite like the auto brightness adjustment. Basically when the room is dark the display dims so it doesn't keep you awake. It's not so dim though that you can't see the display and read the time. I like this feature and it works well. The other fetaure I like is that the alarm volume increases gradually when the alarm activates so that you are not awakened by loud music straight away.In conclusion I would recommend this item.

Display brightness FAR too dim
In many ways this alarm clock radio is perfect; its functions are exactly what you'd expect and its appearance is good. I wanted something that would wake me up in the morning to my favourite radio station and show me the time when I woke up in the night or while the radio was playing first thing in the morning. The Siesta S2 seemed to tick all the boxes.Having had the thing delivered and installed for a couple of days I've discovered that it actually comes up well short of my expectations. Apart from the instructions being almost useless, I've got two reasons:The radio - The sound is muffled. I didn't expect such a small radio to have hi-fi quality sound but this thing is dreadful. The only way I can describe it is like listening from the other side of a closed door; you can can make out the words but you have to really concentrate. Not what you want or need when you're still only half awake. The display - I wanted a display that avoided the blue colours we're told aren't good for our sleep and automatically dimmed in low light levels. The S2 ticks both boxes but the difference between dimmed and normal is far too great. When the bedroom light is on or the curtains are open during the day the display is bright and easy to read and when the room is very dark after the street lights have gone off I can just about make out the displayed time but it's a bit of a struggle. It's the in-between times that are the real problem. First thing in the morning when there is daylight outside but the room is still in half-darkness the display remains dimmed and is very difficult to read. As I type this there is bright sunshine outside and the curtains are still drawn to keep it out and the display is so dim it may as well be switched off; it's all but invisible. In summary this has all the makings of a great radio alarm clock but the designers have got a couple of aspects seriously wrong. I use Amazon a lot and have rarely given anything a 1-star rating but I'm afraid this one is well deserved.

Sounds Fine to Me
I bought this unit (Pure Siesta S2) to replace a 28 year old FM/MW clock radio that is finally losing functionality bit-by-bit. I have a Pure Evoke that I use downstairs so decided to go with a DAB as an alarm. I have been impressed with the little S2. It is a very compact size and I found it easy to set up - the time sets automatically. You set up your own presets and alarm(s). It wasn't intuitive and I did need to read the little pamphlet that comes with it. I didn't need to read it more than once though :-) Perhaps I'm lucky in my coverage, but it scanned loads of stations and I found the sound quality just fine. I got it to be an alarm, with occasional use as a radio when I'm pottering upstairs. It's fine for both those uses and I thought it was good value. I've marked it down slightly in versatility because although I have it set to a particular station for the majority of the time I will want to wake up to the international cricket as soon as we start up again and I am unsure how I can set the alarm to work with the periodically broadcast Sports Extra channel. Failing that it is less than straightforward to change the channel when bleary-eyed in the morning. Guess I'm enough of a dinosaur to wish we could still use tuning knobs. I recognise this is a personal preference and overall I'm very pleased with my purchase.
