Great buy for your buck!!
This BluRay writer is fantastic.I've gone through a handful of cheap burners and I've seen a ton of failures. Some of them wouldn't even burn a single BluRay successfully. Not the case here. This LG is rugged and very reliable. Even the action of the tray opening and closing is high quality.I use it with Compressor and I've never had a failure. If you're looking for a great BluRay burner without busting your wallet this is the one.-V

Does not come with software for writing Bluray movies
Consumers may be surprised when this $125-plus bluray drive reaches their home and they install the software and find that it will not write bluray movies. For that feature, the consumer must pay another $90. Strange. Shocking. But true. Classic bait and switch. I addressed this with LG, and they said it was delivered as advertised."Blu-Ray External Rewriter."I'm sure most of us believe this implies that it we will be capable of writing bluray movies out of the box.Like a refrigerator that doesn't cool things, this bluray player doesn't write bluray movies, and that is by design by LG and is not made clear in the advertising of LG. Instead, after purchasing the bluray disc writer for $160 (in my case), they expect the user to purchase software to make it do the work for which it was intended for another $90. Can you imagine buying a dvd movie player that only plays cds? Or an HD TV that only plays standard programming, unless you pay extra to access the HD features of the TV? It's ridiculous.A bluray writer that doesn't write blurays out of the box. When I contacted LG, the response by the LG representative said, "In case you were to create BD movies you will need the extended version of PowerDirector, which will have to be purchased from Cyberlink."If I wanted an external DVD movie writer, I would buy one. And do so for about $50. This is a $160 drive, so the customer expects that it actually perform the action that is in its model name. A bluray writer. What LG has performed is a classic and shameful bait and switch. They are acting not in good faith, and I strongly recommend not purchasing this drive.
