The Flight Of Dragons [DVD] [1982] [NTSC]

I bought this as a surprise for my daughter. She loved it as a child....she's now 40! She was soooo thrilled with it!

Copy worked. Bad cover art bt the film is superb and no issues playing it.

Arrived promptly and was a delight to watch one of my favourite childhood films

Saw this when I was 15 it resonated with me so much I was the nerdy guy who wanted fall in love with the Beautiful princess the end when she leaps into his arms still gets to me now

This isn't a review of the film but of the actual product. I was a bit shocked when I received this item to see that the reverse of the disc was purple like a writable DVD disc. Upon closer inspection the package artwork also did not look as crisp as a commercial release. I was a bit miffed as I thought I was buying new and was going to complain that I had received a copy.You will see in the product details that this is from the Warner Archives. Basically in America Warner have set up a "Manufacture on Demand" service. It is a cost savvy way of Warner making older, less popular titles available physically without the need to mass press and distribute. You have an online account, order what you want and they press and print and post. Not a bad service and a shame it isn't availble in the UK hence you can buy through sellers on Amazon.To be fair after popping the DVD in it works fine (make sure you have a multi region DVD player) and the quality is more than acceptable for such an old animated film.

I love this animation so much, i used to watch it as a young kid in the 80's, i have not been ble to get it to watch since then, i did have it on VHS and betamax (lol) but now thanks to amazon i have the blu ray of it, brilliant quality of a animation that was never really top quality, even as a kid i thought it was old looking and a bit poor quality, but i still loved it immensely. Now i have it on blu ray and this is actually really good quality, much better quality then the vhs one lol.If you used to watch this as a kid then BUY THIS DVD NOW! Its awesome.

A hard to find film! Arrived much faster than expected. All perfect condition. Still a great/wonderful/magical dragon film

I have been looking for this dvd for years. It is one of my favourite childhood movies. It brings back so many memories

This movie is awful. This Blu Ray is excellent quality and I love and miss Rankin Bass animation, but man. The script is bad, the voice acting is barely OK, the plot is bad, the story is basic and fine. This is, definitely, one of their weaker entries, suffering from poor editing and worse sound design, but I still love it.

... den ich aber persönlich nicht so schlimm finde.Vorab muss man sich vor Augen halten, dass dieser Film von 1982 niemals eine Kinoproduktion war, sondern eine reine Video-Only-Produktion.Auch ist dieser Film niemals im deutschsprachigen Raum erschienen, von daher wird man vergebens eine deutsche Fassung suchen.Über den Inhalt will ich hier gar nicht schreiben, als Drachenfan ein Muss, basierend auf dem Sachbuch "Flight of Dragons" gemixt mit Elementen aus dem "Drachenritter-Zyklus" von Gordon R. Dickson.Der Film selber ist gemacht von dem Produktionsteam, das auch "Das Letzte Einhorn" ins Leben gerufen hat. Gerade bei den Bäumen und Landschaften sieht man das deutlich.Bisher gab es diesen Film nur als VIdeocassette (meines Wissens nach noch nicht einmal in VHS) und später dann als DVD-on Demand.Nun also endlich auf Blue Ray.Und hier das große Manko: Die klanglich und optisch wirklich aufpolierte Version (und das Aufpolieren ist hervorragend gelungen) ist nur in der 16:9 Version zu haben. Das Problem, der Film war aber im Original 4:3 - diese Version ist ebenfalls auf der BlueRay enthalten, aber eben nicht aufpoliert, sondern genau in der DVD-on Demand-Qualität.Der Transfer zu 16:9 hat zur Folge, dass das Bild nun oben und unten "abgeschnitten" ist, was man leider an manchen Stellen sehr deutlich sieht, zumal wenn dann beispielsweise in einer Szene kurz der Kopf des Drachens nicht mehr zu sehen ist. Das ist schade, aber: Ich hatte das schon im Vorfeld gelesen und damit gerechnet. Von daher fand ich das dann beim Anschauen auch nicht so störend.Dafür könnte man einen Stern abziehen.Da aber das Gesamtpaket passt und endlich einer der wichtigsten Drachenfilme auf einem vernünftigen Medium erschienen ist, dann doch die volle Punktzahl
