A cooling device not air conditioning
Had previously purchased 3 other devices and they had worked well

Wasn't for me, an honest review from a home worker
Like many people in the UK we are looking at more and more home working without the benefit of office air-conditioning, unfortunately like many other reviews this is NOT an alternative to air conditioning but more than this it is not better than a fan, it is worse because it humidifies.Ultimately on a hot day even if you do feel cooler air blowing on you that air has additional water in it so you end up feeling damp, which compared to a decent fan is far less comfortable. It doesn't matter how much ice or freezing water you use with the unit you cannot ignore the horrible feeling of being moist. Maybe it would work in a room with relative humidity of 30% or something but normally in the UK inside you will be looking at 70% so when this unit then ups this to 80%+ its not a nice feeling. The unit will never cool a rooms temperature, you will feel cooler only if you sit directly in the air flow which any fan can achieve. It is quite noisy and the one of the weirdest things is that half of the front isn't part of the air flow, 50% of the output is blanked out for some reason, you can see this from the image of the front on the right hand side, so air only comes out the left channel which seems bizarre.I honestly don't know how this product gets 5 star reviews and I admit I was swayed by them but luckily the company were great in collecting the item at their expense and refunding me so I can’t grumble about that. Makes me think I will now actually get proper air-conditioning from them as ultimately that's what I need just like everyone else who probably bought this.

Really good device
Perfect for me as I have noice cancelling headphones on mostly in my room so sound is not an issue. Perfect for cooling over the summer. Now using as a heater. Directed it to my radiator which does go on. And the heat gets nicely distributed in the room within about 15-20mins it’s cosy.

Better than a fan...good for what it is.
Being familiar with the principles of evaporative cooling, having spent the first half of my life in Africa, as a child I was amazed at how cool a damp hessian water bottle was in the shade on a scorching hot day. However, that effect is not experienced as deeply with this air cooler. Without ice in the water reservoir, with relative humidity at about 40% and ambient air temperatures at 30 deg c, the air directly coming out of the vent is about 5 to 6 deg cooler. So it is noticeable. With ice, it only reduces that temp a couple of degrees further....but unless you are prepared to keep replacing it every hour or so, you may just settle for the 5 degree drop.My application is for a little garden office I built last year, even with windows open, it's getting too hot to work in. A medium sized floor fan just blew hot air around & ended up drying my eyes out..So I have this under my desk, blowing directly on me, from about 2 ft away & I am nice and comfortable. On lowest fan speed, it's quiet enough for video conferences and phone calls. As the air is humidified, it won't dry your eyes out like a normal fan would.Does it increase my comfort over a normal fan? Yes it does but don't expect an arctic breeze, but a breeze a few degrees cooler than ambient. You also need to have a source of fresh air...odd as it sounds because if the room gets too humid, the cooling effect reduces.Impressed with the build quality & timer with an automated louver function. There is also an ionization function but haven't used it.Did use this as a heater first as we had a cold snap initially and that worked very well.Anyone in my position, I would recommend this unit, but don't expect it to do too much for you unless you are relatively close to the output.

Aircon was barely cooler that a £10 desk fan
Seems good as a heater but we bought this for the cooler feature and was disappointed. We followed the instructions, even the info that other Amazon reviewers mentioned about ensuring another button/switch was also on (can’t remember which one it was now as I sent the into back a couple of months ago, but other helpful reviews have said about it) but it didn’t make much difference at all. Perhaps we expected too much from a unit far lower priced than a proper aircon system?

Overpriced supplier
Happy with the product, but we'll overpriced, I bought a second unit which was 50 pounds cheaper, exact same model also at Amazon but not realising different suppliers should not be that much difference in price???

Seemed a good heater and cooler at first
I used this for a bit last year. I got the one with the heating function as I thought it would be a good deal. However, switching back and forth from cool to heat for me became a problem and had to give the handle more of a firmer turn to keep it set on the mode I wanted. Not long after the handle broke from inside the machine and I can no longer switch the settings to cool or heat effectively. The handle was rubbish, but the cool and heat settings did work fine when they did actually work.

A Great Nights Sleep
If you want proper air conditioning then this is not for you but if you need a cooler at a really reasonable price then this is great. I use it in my bedroom to give me a cool, comfortable nights sleep and it does the job perfectly. Use the freeze blocks in the water container for even better cooling. It does make a bit of noise, but no more than an oscillating fan but I had no problem getting to sleep ..... in fact it's quite therapeutic! I'd highly recommend this product.
