Great Practice Questions
This book contains around 15 or 16 practice exams. I took all the questions and read through all the answers. This book will show you how the test is laid out. There are always several questions regarding British history. There are several questions regarding "pop culture" (although I don't know why, as it's completely irrelevant). There is always a question or two about geography and British territories. There are always three or four questions about British politics (past and present). And there are always one or two questions about "British values."Buy this book and you'll see the patterns of how the test works. Moreover, you'll find the areas where you're weak and need to go back and study. You should obviously also buy the history books as well. But this one is essential to assessing how much you know about "Life in the UK."One final point -- new editions of these books seem to come out every March. So if you're taking the test after March 2014, you may want to search for the latest edition.

Most useful practice book
Although the practice questions in the book are not identical to the ones coming up in the actual test, they are very similar both in terms of difficulty and style. This book was more useful than the online practice questions offered by various third party websites, which were considerably harder and quite different in style to the ones in the actual test.My suggested approach would be to read the official Life in the UK textbook once, then go through all the questions once (looking up any wrong answers) and then go through the questions again.

Very good companion to the handbook
This book is very good for assessment of one's preparedness and to find out which sections in the handbook need a revision. There are 17 practice tests, each containing 24 questions (same as the actual test). The answers have a brief explanation and tell you which section and page number of the handbook should be referenced.I think it's a must have for the preparation.

Essential if you need to pass the Life in the UK Test
There's a growing number of websites and apps that offer practice questions for the Life in the UK Test. These sites are helpful but not great - mainly because their English grammar and spelling leaves a bit to be desired, which can cause you to misunderstand the questions in the actual test.Buying the official book of practice questions will be a necessary step for the majority of people. It contains 17 sample tests, each with 24 multiple-choice questions. That's a total of 408 questions, but be warned that this is not the full list of questions for the test, so you're not going to be able to learn then by wrote. The book is made of good quality paper and doesn't have much preamble. It gets pretty much straight into the questions. Answers for questions are provided at end of each practice test, along with some more detail on the answer. This additional detail is helpful in making the answers more memorable. The questions themselves are a real mixed-bag... they range from the remarkably easy to the incredibly challenging with a good spread in between. It seems like the wording of the questions is part of the test as well, as some of them can use the English language to make the correct answer harder to determine from the choices provided.Overall, this is a well put together book that will be essential reading for anyone looking to become a settle in the UK. Highly recommended.

Good
Bought it as USED book and actually it was a great deal, only few markings on the couple of pages. The content itself is quite useful and the answers are supported with brief explanation why this is the correct one. Not sure, though, how helpful these question will be for the real test as I haven't book one yet and haven't attended previously...

Great
Along with the official guide for new residents, these 2 books are all you need to pass the Life in the UK test. I took out an unofficial practice quiz book and study guide out from the library, but they repeat the same information that's already available in these books and the questions asked are a lot harder than the ones found on the actual test. The Official Practice Questions and Answers have practice tests that are very close to the ones asked on the real test. I would advise doing the test and then read through the indepth answers provided at the back. It really helps you to understand why you got a question right/wrong and even provides you which page to look up in the guide for new residents for more information.
