Product Description The unique ceramic non-stick coating on this saucepan is made from minerals. This is different from the traditional non-stick coatings which are made from plastic. As this is a ceramic-based non-stick coating it is heat resistant up to high temperatures so that if the pan accidentally overheats, even up to 400 degrees centigrade, no unhealthy toxic fumes will be released into your kitchen or into the food that you are cooking. Traditional non-stick coatings would blister if overheated however this ceramic coating should not blister or peel. Ceramic coatings are also a conductor of heat whereas traditional plastic-based non-stick coatings are a resistor of heat therefore less energy is required to heat pans with ceramic coatings. Ceramic non-stick coating also has exceptional hardness and durability and offers health and ecological benefits. Box Contains 1 x Premier Houseware Red Aluminium Deep Frypan

Hasn't stuck yet
I have read a lot of reviews on ceramic pans. Some say the pan will start sticking after about nine months. I have not yet had mine for nine months but so far so good. I originally bought the pan as I liked the idea of cooking without oil Whatever I have cooked so far - pasta sauces, 'fried' eggs, 'browning' onion and meat for a casserole which I finish off in the oven. Nothing has stuck. I do though keep the heat lowish and I do not plunge the hot pan into water when I have finished and also I will wipe it clean with kitchen paper initially but I still do wash it as there must be some food residue left which I think will make the pan not so non-stick eventually. The 'fried' eggs, when they are nearly cooked, just slide around in the pan and surprisingly don't stick at all when cooked with no oil. Onions do not brown without oil so if I do occasionally add a tiny bit of oil depending on what I am cooking. Always use plastic utensils though or it could well scratch. Omelette doesn't work in my pan as it is too big (24") but possibly a 20" pan could be good. Not sure about popping the pan under the grill to finish off the omelette, as I would with a traditional omelette pan, as I don't have a smaller ceramic pan. I prefer to use a lid as it does reduce cooking time as the pan obviously retains more heat and also so any liquid doesn't reduce too quickly and I prefer to use a lid when frying eggs as there is less need to flip the eggs.

Non stick ceramic pan
I had read about these ceramic pans being totally non stick so was keen to try one but costs in the shops seemed high. The one I bought was much cheaper, about £14 with £3-4 postage from Amazon. I decided to give it a go. It arrived promptly and was well packaged.I have been happy with the product as you don't really need to use oil at all (although fried eggs can be a little 'sticky'). I generally make sauce bases in it, such as bolognaise or curry and have found it very good. You must follow the instructions though and not use anything metal or abraisive. I have silicon spatulas and spoons and they work a treat. You must also let it cool before washing it. I have been using the pan for about a month now and all seems to be going well. I am considering buying a second one, if I can find one as cheap. (The pan I have costs £29 in Lakeland so I consider it good value.)

attractive and efficient
I was attracted by the idea of ceramic mineral coating. I was attracted by the fact that it is non toxic. So I put it to the test by buying a frying pan (24cm) and a smaller (16cm) pan, bith with lid.I always use olive oil to cook, so I did with the lamb I cooked and a chicken patty. I always heat a pan for 3 minutes, according to Jamie Oliver's advice to bring a pan to a good heat to be able to seize meat. This I did, then put a tablespoon of olive oil put the meat and diminished the heat to 2 (electric cooker). The advantage of the pan is that it does NOT stick, there's no wild smoke of burning olive oil. It's all very hot, but not burning. to prevent the smell from escaping, I put the lid on.Tightly fitted, and a little vent hole, excellent! After I cooked my meat and added courgettes and a curry sauce with a bit of water, I carried on cooking, always with the lid on. When cooked I simply slid the whole lot with a wooden spoon onto a plate. Perfect cooking, perfect finish! No burning, delicious taste. I filled the pan with water and rinsed it clean. I cleaned it with a bit of detergent, easy, no markings, the pan stays pristinely clean.I'm a man and cleanliness matters to me! To me this was a wonderful test of a perfect pan. High mark, highly recommended.

Very good value.
After using it for a month we are very pleased with our purchase. it does the job very well at a cheap price. It has a glass lid which was an important consideration. Food does not stick and less oil is required for frying. It is easy to clean with a soapy sponge. I consider the high curvy insides a design positive as opposed to another reviewer who curiously saw it as a negative. The downsides seem slight at the moment: the white interior is not as pristine as it was and the screw holding the handle had to be tightened. The reviews I read prior to purchase said that the non-stick quality is hard wearing and long lasting. It will be interesting to see if that is the case but so far I feel very positive about the product.

I'm so glad I wasn't put off by the negative reviews
This pan is pure magic. I'm so glad I wasn't put off by the negative reviews. It is just heavy enough to be stable without being cumbersome to handle. The handle and the lid knob stay cool to touch. Most importantly, it is truly non-stick! If food dries up in it, a quick rinse with water dislodges it without any problem. No soaking and definitely no scrubbing (that would probably damage it). So far I've made stir fries, vegetable spaghetti, gyros, paella, pancakes, potato scones, scrambled eggs, omelettes and fried eggs and they all come out lovely. Tomato sauce and turmeric does not discolour it. I had no problems with the surface of the pan getting scratched and I did use frozen veg, salt and stock cubes. Frankly, after being used twice a day for four months, it still looks unused. After use, once it's cool, I clean it with the spongy side of a scourer, rinse and wipe dry. For the first month or so, I wiped it with some oil to protect the surface but then didn't bother anymore. The pan looks so nice that it's been proudly living on the stove ever since I got it. It’s in constant use so there’s no point in putting it back in the cupboard.

Not quite so good....
Not really quite as good as the reviews made out. One needs to be careful not to use high heat - if you do then there is a very good chance that food will stick or burn. Just be gentle and it is fine - but it means that a quick stir fry or something like a ratatouille that you want to cook for a while has a good 75% chance of leaving you with a pan that you need to soak overnight to get clean. Under those circumstances it certainly doesnt just wipe off. I bought a Kuhn Rikon fry pan at the same time - more expensive, but it really does just wipe off and will provide an even heat irrespective of how high you have the gas. I guess the fault with the Ecocook pan is that it doesnt heat evenly.
