Slower than a slow thing on a slow day. Philips deny existence. Firmware upgrade not obtainable.
Bought this thinking it would be a quality product, however whilst the voice recording IS good quality, it takes anywhere between 2 and 6 seconds before it starts actually recording. This is NOT anything to do with voice activation - it is the time it takes to turn on (2 seconds+) followed by showing the Philips logo, followed by the internal software "booting", so to speak. What's worse is, if you happen to be at, say, recording 1 of 20 (even if each recording is seconds in length) it takes about 4 seconds for it to (presumably) get to position 21 before it chooses to begin recording. For the purposes I bought this for (to get thoughts down quickly and before I lose momentum) - 6 seconds is far to long. I am ideally looking for near instantaneous recording. My previous dictation recorder was near instantaneous so this is a massive step backwards. Additionally, I bought the DVT2015 model, but on the device it states DVT2010. I am wondering if I have been swindled, or if Philips are unable to to clearly mark their products. Finally, although information I've found states the product was released in 2022 onwards, the firmware states July 2018! I have searched the philips web site(s) and the product doesn't even appear, let alone allude to anything resembling a firmware upgrade that might aide resolving slow functionality. In an attempt to contact Philips via email, you are then asked for your physical home address and are forced to check a box saying you agree for your personal data to be given to third parties. This may be policy but I'm fairly certain a technical dept can answer two basic questions: Where can I get a firmware upgrade from if it exists? and What gives with the non-matching model numbers? without having to know my address, phone number and give data to third-parties(?) 0/10 - definitely would not recommend. Which is sad because I actually quite liked the quality of the recording itself, when it finally managed to get there.

Good But Overpriced!
If you are a dedicated fan of Phillips products, this compact recorder would be a worthwhile consideration. Otherwise you can get better value elsewhere. I It’s important to know that the included Text to Speech software is simply a trial offer for a transcription service that Intended to catch a meeting contentt and only last so long. I like the separate slide switch to change folders and the buttons have been redesigned to make things a bit easier. That AAS batteries are easily changed without the need to plug the machine tin to charge. You just need to remember to take extra batteries or find somewhere to buy more if needed. This unit has been easier to work then my previous Phillips machine,
