Good quality printer and machine with some quirks, great on ink
Bought and have used multi-function printer for four months now, so have used in a variety of printing, copying, and scanning situations. (Faxing with this machine have not tested, as personally do internet faxing service not requiring a phone line). The good:* Have not had to change the print ink cartridges after four months of use with a full set cartridges included in the box (not starter cartridges). The black rated 2400 pages have half used, whereas the three color ones rated 1200 pages each are more than three quarters used. Of course, everyone's printing quantities and qualities will vary, but this is the best usage on ink on an inkjet printer have experienced vs. Lexmark and Canon printers have used in the past.* Other than the paper tray coming out a few inches, like the rectangular form box shape of the printer.* Set up including software was fairly easy if you follow the instructions closely and meet PC/laptop system requirements (done within hour). No problems with USB connectivity. I had a USB printer cable from my old printer that works, but the box does not include a printer USB cable which must be bought separately, but does include a phone cable if you do faxing. The software includes as a printer ink monitor. Ink cartridges are easy to install (follow the printed instructions where exactly at, right side front section).* Machine has a quiet mode which is good if you not want wake up household members and apartment neighbors.* For printing, the machine can automatically do two-sided, and optionally reverse printing which is nice so the top page of your document comes out on the top of the output paper stack when done printing. COPYING two sided the paper has to be fed manually.* On screen LED monitor is intuitive and can set up four short cuts for frequent needs i.e. Best Quality copying.* So far, reliable after four months. No issues with everyday average quality printing or copying of documents, emails, and web pages being printed properly. No paper jams yet.The not so good personally, but some of these may not be an issue for you depending on your needs:* Paper tray is limited to 100 sheets, and has to be pulled out every time you refill. The message that the paper tray is empty is generic to many paper problems.* If do a lot of high volume printing, need to look at a different model. Once printed a document TWO sided where first 50 pages quickly printed in 20 minutes, but the next 70 pages printing took 50 minutes when the machine gave a message it was cooling down. Should note this a protective mechanism and the machine was barely warm on the outside.* Near field communication from a smartphone also with NFC is flaky in my use. Sometimes it communicates, sometimes it does not, and often the print quality does not come out right, printouts enlarged. I do not have Wi-fi so I have not tested that capability of the printer.* PC-scanning software for the machine I found not intuitive for an above average tech user as myself. I instead use Microsoft's Windows Fax and Scan (under Start, All Programs). I only scan infrequently.* My experience in photo printing with this printer is alright for quick print outs. It has been a disappointment for higher quality photo printing. Not sure if it is the ink saving feature of Brother printers or I got a bad cartridge, but yellows and oranges, say on a bouquet of flowers is dull, even with settings of Vivid and Best Quality. Other colors appear good. This is the same whether doing printing or copying of photos. * Though the printing percentage enlargements and reduction choices are sufficient for most needs where there are several standard ones for each, but not increment to a specific percentage, say 98% or 57% if you need that level of precision.* If leave this printer turned on facing your bed at night in the dark, though the LED monitor turns off after a few minutes of non-use, a white light icon to the right of LED monitor blinks on and off a few times a minute. Depending on the height of your bed and the printer on a table or large shelf, this may or may not be disturbing to you.Overall happy with this printer for most of my needs, less these quirks not a deal breaker for my needs.

Great printer and low cost toner a match made in Heaven
I've owned two Brother laser printers in the past and have had very good luck with them so when I needed to get a light duty all-in-one I felt comfortable going with Brother again. Needless to say they've done an excellent job again. Setup for this printer could not be more painless and if you're configuring it to be used wireless you don't need to install any software or even connect it to a computer. The cartridge cleaning took about 5 minutes and then all I had to do was connect it to my network and I was good to go. If you're using a Mac just add the printer and the drivers install in 1-2 minutes. I was up and printing in about 15 minutes counting the cartridge cleaning time. What I really like is that you can configure the scanner to send the scanned images straight to your email. This is so much easier than any other scanning process I've seen and as a bonus you can have multiple email addresses stored and protect them with a PIN so random people don't send scanned images to your email. The touchscreen is nice and crisp and responds well to inputs, the print speed is more than adequate and the image quality should be fine for most home office uses. Two things I noticed are that the yellow prints very lightly which is not a huge deal to me and the paper tray is really tiny. I don't do that much printing so this isn't a huge issue, but for some it may be annoying to constantly be refilling the paper tray. If you need a solid all-in-one printer for light duty home office needs I can't recommend a Brother printer enough. Beats the HP and Epson printers we've had in the past handily!I've reviewed the brother color laser printer and their large color inkjet printer. I like the color touch screen software that allows easy set-up and control over scanning, copying, faxing, and connecting to the wireless network in my home. The printers I have including this one sleep most of the time when not in use and take a few seconds to wake up which sometimes give me a message at my computer terminal, but they do wake up and do the printing requested.I mostly use my laser printer, but this has something that will increase my use on an ink jet. I tend to prefer the inkjet for photo quality type pictures, its not that the laser looks bad, but it does not always look as lifelike. It's a little difficult to express without photo evidence, but a good inkjet blender will create some truly nice colors accurately. Through various cloud printing services you can print from your smartphone or tablet as well. The main reason of the extra star over the last inkjet I reviewed was economy. I'm used to getting about 200-300 pages of color and 400 of black out of most of my previous inkjets. The cost to replace a full set is close to 100 dollars, that averages out to about a quarter a page minimum for using the printer. Too much money, this is super economical, not only does it print 2-3 times more pages per replacement cartridges, but the cost is less than a third of what I typically have to pay for most printers.Highly recommended for those who like color inkjet reproduction, or just like an economical printer with very low cost, but quality ink replacements.

Overall Good Printer
Purchased this printer in 2018. Overall it is a good printer with good print quality. The issue I have is the bypass: 1) it can only hold one paper at a time; 2) When printing an envelope I almost always encounter issues with it not pulling envelope through correctly.

Some problems I encountered
After using this printer for a month or so, I leave my comment now. Overall, so so. I wouldn't buy it again if I had another chance.Problems: 1. prints too slow. 2. can take 2 paper at a time. 3. no double-sided printing for legal-sized paper. 4. when I was printing with legal-sized paper, with each new piece of paper, it asks me: different paper size detected, continue? So with each new piece of paper, i have to press yes, then it would print. The point is: I have to be by its side and babysit it for it to finish printing. Otherwise it will cancel your job if you don't choose anything. 4. Once it stopped printing because it couldnt take that much information. But it wasnt like a huge job, 10 double-sided pages only. It paused for 5 minutes, then restarted the whole job. 5. It tells me several times that the ink cartridge is not inserted, which is of course not true, they have been there, and I have never touched them. So I had to eject all of them and push them in, for NO purpose. 6. Printed color is weird. It is much duller than it looks like on the computer, even after many times of strong cleaning maintenance. 7. Flimsy paper tray. Those are the problems I have encountered so far. If I had another chance, I would buy another machine. Many small things add up, and I am not very happy with this printer.

Reliable home office printer
I was tired of replacing my cheap and somewhat cheerful HP inkjets every 18 months due to failure. Decided it was time to spend a little more on a brother. Great home office machine so far; have been using it for a few weeks now. Clear ink (which is largely down to cartridge choice I realize), no jamming, easy set-up (although it does take a bit of time). Easy AirPrint. Quick delivery. Happy customer.

Really happy with this
Really happy with this. It's not the highest output quality but the low cost per page, scanning and duplex printing are great. The wireless networking actually works which is great. The only cons so far is the large amount of client software (besides the print utility it has a remote manager, a status manager and a help bar) and the fact it doesn't come with full cartridges, only 'starter' cartridges which are much smaller. Of course none of these negatives are particularly uncommon in the printer world but you don't get five stars just for being at the top of a particularly crap pile.

Brother printer is the best printer after my previous five printers
Finally a great product with large ink tanks at a fair price. Order came very quickly. I have no burnt my last three printers as I cannot afford the ink cartridges. I have since ordered ink cartridges for the Brother printer at a fair price

Great value
Far better than the Epsons we had (2 had to be returned before we gave up on them). Sturdier and lower price ink. Far less issues with the print heads as well.
