bargain way to enable connectivity to older devices.

A very simple job to install in my (homebuilt desktop case - not under warranty) PC and it's provided a working serial port for me to plug my old modem(s) into. The cable is sufficiently long at 40 cm so I can put this right down the far motherboard slot backplate area and the cable still reaches. A simple but important product and at a price that was a real bargain. Be aware that a minority of motherboards may require a crossover wired version of one of these (this one is straight wired) so check with your motherboard supplier or the product manual.

I am not sure why Motherboard manufacturers build their boards with the Serial Port electronics and then do not provide a socket to plug anything into it. Anyway if you are like me and need to use this port then this easily plugs onto the pins on the board, with a short ribbon lead to a socket. Good quality and simple to connect.

Great little inexpensive hardware device that enabled my Windows 7 Desktop - which was serial-port featureless (although motherboard had the required socket) - to communicate flawlessly with legacy serial-port external hardware previously used on Windows XP. Other solutions, tried previously, had failed - not this, though!

It's standard. Motherboards have had headers for these forever but in the last 10 years they have stopped supplying these plates. RS232 is still very important in industry to interface with old industrial equipment and factory machines. Yes you can use a USB to RS232 converter and these do work pretty well but there are often problems. By fitting a real RS232 connector using the motherboard's proper hardware it's going to be more compatible. Especially so if you're running an old operating system that does not support USB so well.

Connected into my pc with no problems, just don't have any serial devices to test it with yet.

Has a nice long cable to allow positioning the bracket in any of the PCI expansion slot openings in my case. Seems sturdy and well made.

Der Standard heisst hier DTK/Intel und ist wie folgt:Kabel Pin -> DB9-Stecker Pin1 (rot) -> 12 -> 63 -> 24 -> 75 -> 36 -> 87 -> 48 -> 99 -> 5TL;DR: abwechselnd eins oben, eins unten, angefangen bei 1-1, dann alternierend.Das Kabel lässt sich problemlos, Grundkenntnisse vorausgesetzt
