Summit SUM-840 Roof Box, 320 Litre Capacity in Metalic Grey

After much deliberation between this, a Thule roofbox or a Halfords Exodus roofbox, I opted to get the Summit and am glad I did.I was first attracted to this roofbox because of the excellent price and the fact that I wanted to fit a bike rack alongside it on the roof also. Compared to the other 320/330 litre roofboxes, this was over £160 cheaper. Because of the cheap price though, I was nervous the quality would not be high. Thankfully, this was not the case and I'm amazed this is not more popular.In the box you get a simple-to-use fitting kit which can be used with square or aero bars. The fitting kit clamps underneath the roofbars go through small holes in the bottom of the roofbox and are then tightened on the inside of the box. The only added complication I had was that I have Thule Wing Bars and the holes did not align with the bars. As per the instructions, I drilled an additional set of holes and then filled the old holes and this was easy to do. The roofbox comes with a protective plastic wrap on and I recommend leaving this on until the box is on the car roof and ready to go as it protects from any scuffs or scratches. However, the box itself is more granite/grey colour as opposed to black, but I think it still looks good on a black car.The box itself is spring-loaded and opens to one side. Luggage straps are included to hold your items down securely. There is a central lock to keep the box securely shut plus a clamp at the front. When closed it feels very secure. Whilst driving, there is not a great amount of noise from the box at low speeds. Noise only becomes noticeable at approx 50mph but even at 70mph the noise is still minimal.In summary, this is a smart and easy to install roofbox at a fantastic price and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

excellent value for money. we have a small car and this is perfect for holidays ect. holds more than expected, is very secure when it is fitted and does not make a sound when travelling.

Shell seemed a little too flexible when unpacked. However, when mounted and fixed to the 'Aero' roof bars on Audi A6 Avant, solid & virtually noiseless on motorway trip. Only small reduction in fuel economy. Very happy with product.

Great roof box was so undisided with the rax make at £95 and this one for £148 I'm glad I got this one pays to pay a bit more Cz the review on the rax roof box was not good reviews I thank the one person who wrote it Cz I'm very happy with this one

Very unhappy with this item. Unfortunately I only noticed that one of the hinge pivots was missing which should have been attached by two rivets. Also one of the hinge pins from the bag of bits was missing, which I had to replace with a nut and bolt. Because I had left it close to the holiday and also had had problems getting a roof rack I had to use the box and of course my returns date was well past as I had the box in February and apart from a quick check didn't look at it again till mid June. WELL UNHAPPY!!!
