No, they are cloth backed ("non-woven"). the padded area and areas around it are moisture proof, but the side wings are not. The side wings are fully breathable and would let wetness through, if wetness came around to the side. They make absolutely NO noise under clothing and work very well.

It holds a lot. It’s good for 10-12 hours

We did not actually use these as my dad didn't need anything this diaper like. They appear to have a plastic outer layer.
