Would this be suitable for old quarry tiles 1920s on a floor without a damp proof course? And what should I use to get grease stains out beforehand?

I used this product to seal a patio of unglazed quarry tiles. Unfortunately the patio was laid just prior to a very wet period followed by freezing conditions which ‘blew’ some of the tiles. As soon as I could in the following spring once the tiles were completely dry I applied several coats of KF Stain Stop and the last two winters have not seen more ‘blowing’. You don’t say if your tiles are glazed or not. This stuff won’t be any good on glazed tiles as it won’t be absorbed into the clay. If unglazed I would think the Lithofin would be fine. However you could always call the UK Lithofin stockist for advice as I have done in the past. I find them very helpful and knowledgeable. As far as removing grease you could try the following. Grease and fat usually can be removed by washing with a solution of 10 per cent sodium carbonate in water OR 5 per cent caustic soda, allowing the solution to be in contact with the surface for about an hour, then rinsing thoroughly. Take great care when using caustic soda - use rubber gloves and eye protection. Hope this helps.
