Great deals can be found after all!!
I researched for quite a bit of time because of the negative reviews on this site and competitors and decided that the good would far outweigh the bad. Well surprise... surprise... they are GREAT! Having 3 young children I have found out the hard way that buying them expensive furniture/bedding etc., just isn't reasonable nor affordable. That is what originally piqued my interest in the South Shore Furniture line; the low price! I was excited to see that they were available through Amazon Prime and slowly realized, this is a good deal because of the free shipping.Let's start off with shipment time: It isn't Prime standards but it does come rather quickly, at least quicker than the estimated delivery by arriving 3 days early. Others before me have stated the awkward/heavy box situation.... they are not LYING! Since Fed Ex was so polite in shipping nice and early (not) my husband was not there for the delivery. They dropped it off at the front door and went on their merry way. I live on the 2nd floor and discovered what I had gotten myself into shortly thereafter. You can only imagine my surprise when I saw these nearly 8 foot tall boxes weighing 112 lbs each. It was a sight.... me (as a female) trying to slowly pull them into the hallway without buckling them or breaking my back! Please plan on having two strong people available for delivery! Now onto the actual building time. The directions were in wonderful plain understandable English. We discovered that South Shore Furniture is located in Canada. Another great surprise was the fact that there is a 5 year warranty on each bed! Each bed's pieces were labeled on the side (no annoying stickers WOOHOO)where you can see the compressed boards. The finish is a nice matte and we were happy to not see any damage. The company takes great care in packing it wonderfully to the point where it became a nuisance to unpack. I am hoping that this signifies that they have responded to and rectified the transport issues (damage) that I have previously read about from other "disatisfied" customers. The ends of the bed where your head and feet go are rounded corners, but not the sides. I don't see this as an issue because I am used to Ikea beds and those are truly dangerous. These are fine but if you jump and fall, then you will possibly get scraped. Typical wood scenario... try to teach the little ones to not jump.Putting together took quite a bit of time because of the organization that it consumes at the very beginning. I would say about 2.5-3 hrs, but by the second bed my husband no longer needed the instructions and built it rather quickly. The company states to not use a power drill... we attempted at first but it just became unbearable because there really are that many parts. As others have also mentioned, many inside pieces that will never be seen are the cacao color or black. I was glad to see an insert from the company explaining why they chose to do this and how this is "green". That pleased me immensely!!Highly recommend for those that are looking for the most bang out of their buck! Once put together they are beautiful and solid. The drawers are only half the width of the bed, so I can see how this would be an issue to some that were planning to use them as dressers. We are going for storage or maybe their linens. I don't find the bottom of the drawers to be too thin; it is typical RTA(ready 2 assemble) furniture and without much weight they should slide fine. I find the handles rather cheesy looking but am happy that we were given the option of the clear or red handles. I ended up just leaving the clear handles because they actually complement the bed and are understated! Planning to buy another one in a few weeks for our 4 year old son. Currently have a nearly 8 and 6 year old on them. I do not see an issue with an adult sleeping on it, but I can understand the apprehension because the board seems rather thin. Rest assured... it holds!Beautiful and blends in wonderfully with other white furniture. Even Ikea can't beat this deal! We have them on hard wood floors and find that we can easily move them around without lifting and there are no scratches. I am assuming that carpeted floors will make this a one type plop mission where the bed will "stay".

Good value for the money
Arrived as expected box damaged slightly but with a 70+ pound delivery I thought that would happen. Don't try it alone get someone to help you assemble it. I did it alone for the first hour then wife jumped in to help and it went much quicker w/ a 2nd person. One of the drawer front came chipped but it ended up being the bottom. Bed is on a carpeted floor so I wasn't too worried about it.Twin mattress fit just fine and for those complaining about it not being a snug fit ... it's not suppose to! Ours fits fine and we have it up along the wall in the corner of the room. We are able to tuck in the sheets and comforter just fine. Bed is nice and low to the ground, approx 18" from floor to top of mattress. Not so high if your kid falls out they will hurt themselves.FREE TIP: If you're worried about it moving so much go buy a pool noodle and cut it down to fit along the bottom of the mattress to make it snug.4 MONTH UPDATE: After 4 months of normal sleeping use one of the supports has fallen; because the piece it lays on above the drawer has broken the particle board on the inside of the drawer. Trying to find a way to secure it because that happens to be the end of the bed my daughter sleeps on. So far no luck hopefully I can find something helpful in other comments.

Totally cute, acceptable bed
We spent real money on the mattress, so we went kind of cheap with the actual bed. Here's the thing, it's against the wall in our 3 year old daughter's room, it's not going to move and, therefore, it's perfect. I expect the bed to serve it's purpose for many years and for that I give it 4 stars. It's cheap, I mean it's $150, so expect a $150 bed. It looks totally cute but the drawers are a bit cheesy and the drawer pulls seem very delicate, I might actually hot glue them in at some point because they don't seem to have secured into the particle board properly. I would not recommend this bed for someone who is going to use these drawers heavily or for a situation where it may be subject to excessive wear and tear. For a little kid that is not going to give this bed heavy use, it's great.Putting it together takes some time, it's a pain in the butt but this is what you have to do if you want to spend $150 on a bed, right? It came together nicely and I was confident in its construction once it was fully put together. You definitely don't need a box spring and it comes with full boards for under the mattress, NOT slats - which I was happy to discover.

Comparable to Ikea bed frames..
I purchased this bed frame for my 2 year old son that has outgrown his toddler bed.It is very comparable to the quality of Ikea brand bed frames. I love the fact that it doesn't require a box spring. Also, they use solid plywood pieces instead of the boards all strung together to support the mattress. The bed is an actual vibrant white, which is perfect and matches my other son's white bed and dresser. You are given the option of silver handles for the drawers or red handles. The drawers could be sturdier, and they aren't too deep, so not the best for storage but better than nothing! This bed frame took my husband about a hour to put together - only required a few screw drivers, hammer, and his power drill. Not too bad either considering I didn't hear too many swears coming from upstairs :) He said it was quite simple to put together and the directions were easy to follow.I paid around $130 for this bed frame, with free shipping - can't complain. It will hopefully last my son many years! Just make sure you have someone to help you carry the box into the house considering it weighs 118#!I highly recommend this bed frame for young children!

Not so great!
Love south shore furniture always good quality and easy to put together. Only complaint is that the delivery was terrible next time I hope they use someone else for shippingEdit: after only 6 months the bed is falling apart. The center span broke and left the top two boards sagging. Also tore our mattress on the bottom as it got caught between the 2 boards when they sunk in

It's okay.
It's okay. It went together relatively easy enough over a few hours. The toughest part was the drawers. My biggest complaint with this bed would be the strong smell of wood after opening the packaging. You should probably wipe it down and let the bed air out before using. Especially the drawers. We were quick to load the drawers up with linens and they all ended up smelling like a lumber yard. I guess this should be expected with pressed wood. My other complaint would be the hardware on the drawers. The handles are of really poor quality. I'll likely replace them with something of slightly better quality.Be careful if purchasing the headboard. Although the headboard may match the bed, and is intended to attach, there are no drill holes for attaching the bed without potentially messing up the side of the bed. However, overall a good value bed. I'd buy it again.

‘‘Tis a Great Bed!!!
This bed is perfect for my 9 year old big boy. He is tall and heavy. It’ll last him years and the storage is fantastic! Love the deep chocolate colour, in dimmer light it almost looks black but it’s a very rich brown. We did not get a headboard or footboard yet, the space is very limited in his tiny room until we move.... but I’m impressed anyway!!My husband would like to leave his portion of BUILDERS REVIEW:Hi. The parts were mislabeled or not labeled at all. There were also extra parts that sincerely have no place. All in all the bed was actually quite easy to put together on my own, but it did take a couple hours to complete. A second hand and it may have been done a bit faster, and the time spent trying to decipher pieces or where to put the screws exact would have saved some time as well.Bed isn’t heavily made, it’s cheap board for the most part, however it does the job and it looks great. So if you’re on a budget or looking to spruce up a spare room cost effectively, I would give this bed a go!Cheers!

Not that good
Got it with a broken piece, Amazon and manufacture provided good customer support to send me a replacement for that piece but of course it took another week to 10 days to get and couldn't assemble the bed until I got it. The wood quality is not that good, also had multiple issues with alignments as it does not fit directly have to put some thoughts and tools to get it in the right way. My recommendation, if you can add more money then look for something better. Still okay for the money and most important my kid likes it.
