of course I would recommend it I bought one
I am not the type of computer user who is interested in ever bigger and ever faster. But I did want my near 10 year old system updating a little so bought this A4-5300, some new RAM and a motherboard to go with it. My logic went along the lines of it being less hassle buying an APU rather than getting a new graphics card too, and also cheaper.End result, my system is double quick compared to what it was and 5 times more capable. Of course, the addition of faster ram and all the new technologies incorporated in my new motherboard are in part responsible for the improved performance.I did a brief performace test with around 20 browser windows open running in two different browser programs, with a couple of those playing Youtube video, Open Office and a few other programs / applications opened and running and the load on the CPU elements of the APU was around 50%. So it is plenty fast enough for the "normal home user." Obviously, not suitable for people who want to play leading edge PC games, but should be fine with what were leading edge PC games 5 or 6 years back. Before deciding on the A4 I looked at Passmark scores for the chip and its graphics component, respectively double and triple what I was using beforehand. Not being a Windows user I cannot offer up any experience index scores for the APU but there is no question in my mind it is presently the best value way of upgrading for people who want their PC to keep pace with the extra demands placed upon it by evolving software and applications who are not power hungry users. Of course, the more you spend knowing what is value for money, even if it is just ten pounds, the more power and capabilities you get. But for the ever hard pressed like me who don't need a supercomputer, this is a great buy.

Budget processor
It may not be the bottom of the FM2 range but this is a good little workhorse and you can overclock it quite superbly if you have the right board - ideal combo is the magnificent Asrock FM2A75 Pro.Does what it says on the tin.If you are a high spec gamer you will want to look elsewhere Core I7 from intel or the Amd FM2 A10 Quad processor are a good bet but if all you want is for a decent machine that will do internet , office and some games this is the best bet.The most useful benefit for these processors and for companies wanting to slash their energy bill is the low 65 watt tdp processor power draw - currently mine draws little more than 35 watts in normal use - to get the full 65 watt you would have to be running prime mersennes or high end game - the upper echelon of this processor range runs at 100 watts - very few people actually use 100 percent of processor util so this is the idealchip for the cost conscious user.Cheap cheerful but not nasty.

Fleeting romance but great value for money
Due to motherboard compatibility issues, I was forced to buy an A4 before I could install my Richland A10 (see my MSI FM2 A75MA E35 review for the whole story). Before I installed the A10 I had a little time to play around with this APU and I must say, performance is very impressive for the price. Everything was nice and quick and looked great on a 32" HDTV. Didn't get a chance to play any games on it but raw numbers and other reviews suggest it should be roughly equal to an Xbox 360 or a PS3 in graphics power so decent performance at 720p but I wouldn't push it up to 1080p (incidentally, on paper it should be very similar to the A6-4455M in my laptop but with a better CPU and that is a pretty competent 720p gaming machine so it should serve you well).Overall, great price and recommended for a light gaming and HD media PC machine.

Really good product and great value
Really quick CPU and great onboard GPU if you don't want to do hardcore gaming.I used this CPU on a home server system using Ubuntu, I use the system for sharing and downloading media of all types. For that purpose it is great, it seems to be very quick and works very well with Ubuntu. I am also using the onboard GPU and it also seems to be very good for everything apart from hardcore games. Fast and cheap what more can I say.

Just bought it for upgrading bios on an FM2+ motherboard to support the A10 7850K
I have rated this product 5 stars, only due to the quick delivery. I have only used it to just upgrade the bios on my Gigabyte motherboard, to make it support the A10-7850K for which it did the job perfectly. As i was excited to try out my A10 7850k i did not try this processor with windows, therefore i have no clue of how it actually performs, I just know that the A10 7850K is amazing processor and it was worth for me to buy this processor just to upgrade my bios to support the A10 processor.

Affordable Chip - Average Performance
I managed to pick this processor up for only £22.It is more than capable of handling every day tasks and I would definitely recommend it if you can find a cheap motherboard to pair it with. But you will not get miracles in terms of performance. There is no doubt a surprising amount of graphical horsepower provided by this chip - but after having ran tests, the performance is somewhat comparable to a GeForce 610 so you should not expect to be playing games with this chip.As far as the CPU performance is concerned, considering the price it is rather decent. But it provides performance comparable to an older Core 2 Duo which isn't ideal if you have any plans of combining this chip with a graphics card. So do invest in a more powerful chip such as the A6, or the A8 (or an Intel Celeron with a dedicated graphics card) if you plan on doing anything more than watching a few movies and browsing the web.

Fantastic CPU!
I bought one of these to upgrade my mums PC, and it is simply fantastic! Performance on Windows 8 and Ubuntu is fantastic, and its low power consumption makes it perfect for a desktop pc thats for basic use.I have always bought AMD, and this reminds me exactly why, it was a cheap and very powerful!I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new CPU for a home/office desktop!
