GOOD STRONG OBELISK
Robust obelisk and easy to erect with two people, although a man would be able to do it on his own. I look forward to growing a climbing rose around and through it. It looks very good and sturdy and appears value for money.

Good obelisk
Well made & sturdy obelisk. Easy to assemble.Packaging was poor and GAP's chosen carrier is unreliable.Note that the 8ft obelisk ends up under 7ft when the 10inches in the ground and 6inch finial are deducted from the height.

Strong and sturdy
I used this to support a Campsis which had grown to about seven or eight feet tall but was top heavy and fell down. Originally, it was attached to a small piece of trellis which was nailed to a fence and obviously I couldn't reattach it to the fence so I needed something robust and strong to support the plant because - while the stem was quite thick, it was only a stem and not a trunk and would not have supported the plant on its own.I found putting the obelisk together a bit fiddly and then, while I was hammering the legs into the soil it kept coming apart. That, I hasten to add, was not the fault of the obelisk, but was due to the fact that I needed to feed the growing plant up inside the obelisk - which was a job and a half in itself. I had to cut back the branches of the Campsis quite severely in order to fit them all up inside the column and out at the top and I was a bit concerned that I might lose it but I'm pleased to say that this summer it is flowering strongly again and now looks fine. It doesn't spread out quite like it did before but that was because it was never pruned and it really was too big at the top for the stem to support it. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend this obelisk - it wasn't exactly cheap but then again I needed something with some real body otherwise it would have been a waste of time. So - big and strong, a bit fiddly to put together but once it's done it's great and I'm very pleased.

Large sturdy obelisk .covered in hamerite paint ( pleased about this ) You will need to purchase a tin of this to paint the screws and bolts when put together.

Excellent obelisk for big plants.
I had an Autumn Clematis that is a very vigorous plant and it needed a big strong support. This 8ft obelisk was exactly what I was looking for ! It is BIG! Very sturdy and well made. Easy enough to put together if you tie the two main hoops together at top with some padded wire just to hold in place. My other tips are to use a little WD40 on the bolts and the round bits that join the top and bottom halves together and when fixing it up in the garden take the top half off and then you can gently tap the lower half down into the (dug) soil with a mallet before putting the top half back on. This is the business if you need something for a big climber and it is a very attractive garden feature. Time will tell how well it resists rust but you can always repaint it. Yes I may get another one for another part of the garden ! A lovely product!

Reasonably well made
Generally pleased but would have been happier if the frame was made from solid rather than hollow tubular sections.Update - I’m afraid I am knocking a star off as after four years mine, the frame that is, has started to rust. Also, not sure why the nuts and bolts provided are not galvanised (even in the seller’s own photos these appear not to be painted).
