As good as promised ...
After spending several fraught hours trying to free the nut of a tap just so I could do the simple job of changing a washer to stop it leaking I gave up in frustration and ordered a Tapsplitter. Today it took 10 minutes to undo the nut and now I'm used to assembling the device, next time it'll take 1 minute. The tool is well presented in a good quality plastic case with a cut foam interior. The device is well made, works perfectly and will be a useful device for life. I DID have to order a 25mm insert separately to fit my large tap nut but that was OK in the end.EVERY house should have one of these. Being easily able to change tap washers is a boon to civilisation!

Pricey--but get one!
Bought this to sort out problem taps at my son's new house. Two cold water sink taps and a hot water bath tap were rigid with age and hard water deposits. They were impossible to turn off completely (unless you were King Kong). New taps are not on the agenda at present,so these old taps needed refurbishment.I tried everything but not a hint of movement in any of them and nuts starting to round off. Just as I thought I'd have to go under the units and replace the plumbing feeds, I saw the TapSplitter on You Tube and Amazon.Ordered, responded and delivered in 48 hours- excellent service.First sink tap took me about 20 minutes (learning and taking my time). Confident in the tool's prowess, next two taps were 5 minutes each, which included re-seating taps, new tap body units (Screwfix) and some lubrication. Good as new!I begrudged it's price a little , but after use I thought it was well worth it. Now gone into my plumbing tool kit as a worthwhile addition. Old taps will hold no fears in future. If you're a plumber, it's a great addition to have to hand and will pay for itself first job. I have no vested interest in this product other than being a satisfied user.

Great product - caution on Pozibite
This is a great product that works really well. I actually thought it hadn't worked at all as I was expecting some kind of big cracking sound or lightening bolt when the seal broke, but when I put the spanner on it came off no problem at all.My only advice is - check that the various fittings will fit your tap. I shelled out extra for the Pozibite fitting as all my efforts to undo the nut had left it pretty burred. Turned out the Pozibite attachment was way too small for my fitting, so I couldn't use it anyway. Luckily I managed to do it with the standard fittings anyway, so that was ok.Seems like, as the Pozibite has a screw which you drive into the nut to hold it on anyway, they could make the fitting a bit bigger to fit a broader range of taps.Although I spent a bit more than I needed to, it was still cheaper than getting a plumber!

A fabulous little tool that does exactly what it says it will
This is a fabulous little tool. Changing tap washers is supposed to be one of the easiest DIY jobs there is, but I've been frustrated many times in the past by nuts on taps that simply wouldn't budge and have ended up calling out plumbers in exasperation. Then I bought this tool. It arrived the next day, and I have just used it to successfully change the washers on my bathroom taps. I watched a demonstration on YouTube first to see how to do it, and after that, I found that I didn't really need to read the instructions. This tool is simple to use, and it does exactly what it says it will do. I would wholeheartedly recommend this. The cost of the tool is less than one plumber's call-out charge. The only problem is that I can see that I'll be in demand now, to change friends' tap washers...

Bought this rather clever tool to split a hand basin ...
Bought this rather clever tool to split a hand basin tap which was seized solid after ten years of being in situ. I had tried the usual method to release it using a box spanner and adjustable spanner to no avail. The spanner slipped off and the tap moved! Luckily the pipe work or handbasin were not damaged. After watching the demonstration on YouTube several times and reading the instructions I felt confident this tapsplitter tool would make short work of that pesky tap! Not so. The spanner on the tap just twisted out of shape and the spout sleeve moved up the tap. Back to the YouTube video. Have I done something wrong? No. Tried again with same result. Having taken a closer look the taps themselves appear to have quite a steep angle on the spout so when the tapsplitter is put in position it looks out of true, and as you tighten things up the thing just buckles. The taps are from Wickes so they are hardly out of the ordinary and are very high quality.Sadly I gave up with the tapsplitter took the taps off popped down to Wickes and for £25 bought identical taps and put them on. I am sure this tool would work well on other taps that do not have such a steep spout. I shall keep it in my tool box you never know one day it may come in handy.

The Easy TapSlitter is a great idea
The set arrived promptly, on the third day after ordering.I am sure it does what it says on the box; unfortunately I could not use it on the tap I needed to.The set contains a spanner and four inserts. As it says on the box “Nut sizes17, 17.5, 19, 22 & 32mm, which to fit most taps”. The tap I needed it for is more than 22mm across flats.I opted for the set with the PosiBite included. I had assumed that, whilst not providing the 6 points of contact that a hexagon insert for the tool would give, it least it would fit all other sizes of tap, with a solid, two point ‘bite’.Wrong! The PosiBite can only take a nut up to 19mm diameter, after the corners have been rounded off, as that is the size of the circular hole in the tool. The Easy TapSlitter is a great idea; but if only it had been made more encompassing.I contacted ABD Tools and they tell me that they are have additional inserts 20.05, 23, 24 and 25mm for unusual size head-nuts. But these are not yet available on Amazon. As it is as yet untried, I can only give TapSplitter 3 stars in anticipation. As for PoziBite, be aware of its size limitation – which I think Amazon should mention in their description.

Tap splitter
Had no problem taking apart bath tap to replace new inner parts, works well but a bit expensive to buy.
